Million Dollar Musings: Tuesday, April 16th

Is your lineup Premium Approved? In this space, CheeseIsGood, STLCardinals84, or fathalpert will break down the slate from top-to-bottom like no one else in the industry can – exploring the matchups from every angle, steering you toward the best plays on the day, and helping you become a better and more complete DFS player as you continually expose yourself to the “process” and the “why,” rather than just looking at the “what.” Have a boat? We’ll teach you how to fish.

Tuesday, April 16th

Happy Tuesday! Tonight is going to be a little different depending on which sites you’re playing on. DraftKings, Yahoo and FantasyDraft are starting at the usual 7:05 ET with 13 game slates. On FanDuel, the night begins 30 minutes earlier at 6:35 ET to include the first two games as well.

I’ll talk about those first couple games as they relate to the FD slate and then get into the 13 games that are available on all sites.

There is a lot of good pitching tonight, and each tier is packed with several similar options. We’re going to run out of quality options much quicker when we get to the hitting section.

There are just so many pitchers on this slate. He belongs in the Quintana/Margevicius tier. Totally viable. I love all the ground balls. It’s just a tough salary for a guy who is not going for strikeouts. But he is totally playable tonight, I would not try to talk you out of him.

Got it. Get up to McHugh/Gray.

  • Arlowe84

Yes. Was all in on Ramirez last night at $3,900. 4% ownership in DK cash was nice!

Does the fact that Strasburg is throwing so many Two-Seamers to righties now cause concern about his K upside for you? That’s one of the lowest K-rate pitches out there, and it would seem to hint at a more of a soft contact approach from him

Not really, because if he continues to pitch this way, that’s a good trade-off for effectiveness even if it costs a few K’s. I don’t see him dropping too far in K’s, but if this helps him pick up some quicker, easier outs, I’m all for it.
You can use this as another reason to put Glasnow ahead of him tonight, but at his salary, 27%-ish strikeouts is plenty good for me if he’s also just getting a bunch of easy ground ball outs.
