We’ll teach you how to fish.

Tuesday, August 7th

We have a similar slate to last night. The same obvious spots are back for the bats, and while they all disappointed last night, so did everything else. Don’t overreact to one weird night where nobody scored runs (go Indians!), we are very likely to have that made up for tonight.

We’ve got some high end pitching and a solid, manageable mid-range. Let’s jump on in to the pitching and see what we find.

TUESDAY NIGHT PITCHING

THE ACE AND THE TWO OTHER ACES, ALSO KNOWN AS THE THREE ACES

Max Scherzer vs Braves – The situation with Scherzer tonight is similar to the Trevor Bauer situation last night. We have a guy who is clearly the best pitcher on the slate, but at a significantly higher cost than some other strong options on a slate where we need some salary for bats. After a few slow starts, Scherzer has bounced right back to his usual self with back-to-back double digit strikeout games, his 11th and 12th of the season. His 34.7% strikeout rate dwarfs the competition, and the low walks and high soft contact add to his floor.
