MLB Big Events: Kuperman, Stinger88 take down DFBC, DSBC Q's
Tuesday has become the new Wednesday in the Daily Fantasy Sports industry as we’ve shifted from NBA to MLB, and last night did not disappoint with several big GPP’s/Q’s throughout the big three sites. FanDuel ran a $535 DFBC Q and a $100K Monster, while DraftKings and DraftStreet both ran Q’s for their end-of-season championships. In addition to the qualifiers, DraftKings ran one of their MLB Super Boosters which paid $1000 to each of the top 100 finishers, and the DraftStreet Heavy Hitters Series is about halfway through round two.
FanDuel $535 DFBC Qualifier

Kuperman (71st TPOY, 122nd on the MLB Grinder leaderboard) will be heading to Vegas to compete for $1,000,000 after narrowly escaping last night’s $535 Q with a 1.15 point margin of victory! It was a fairly low scoring night on FanDuel, despite the night’s most popular pitcher nearly posting a 20 FP game. Kuperman’s highest scoring hitter registered just 7.5 FP’s, but solid all around production from his Milwaukee/St. Louis mini stacks was enough to carry him to the win. GrindersLive/SiriusXM host Al_Smizzle was right on the brink with three top-ten entries (4th, 5th and 7th), but the Arizona bats weren’t able to get enough going to catapult his 4th place entry any further up the leaderboard. Kingofqueens, rotokevin and doomsday70 also finished in the top ten.
DraftKings $3.3MM Fantasy Baseball Championship Qualifier #14

We weren’t able to have a Grinder take this one down, but sheesheenees (indhoosier on RG, 2399th overall) finished 3rd with really nice production out of his pitchers (Greinke and Lynn) and went off the board to catch a big game from C.J. Cron. TheTakeOVER (41st TPOY, 47th overall) finished in 5th place with a double-digit strikeout effort from Greinke and a successful Brewers stack. Al_Smizzle (6th and 10th place), TeeJayOrTJ and McJester were also in the hunt last night.
DraftStreet DSBC $22 Qualifier

Stinger88 (27th MLB, 38th TPOY) took down last night’s DSBC Q with a score of 87.67, and this one came down the wire with just 5 FP’s separating 1st and 11th place. He stacked up the Boston/Atlanta game and filled out his lineup with Miguel Cabrera (who was 0% owned according to the scoreboard, yet delivered 10.25 FP’s) and Jason Castro. His three starting pitchers (Greinke, Hudson and McHugh) allowed a total of 3 ER’s while striking out 25, good for a combined 44.92 FP’s. PapaCub (45th overall) was just 1.5 FP’s behind the leader in 2nd place with a Rays stack mixed with a few of the Milwaukee bats. Colin McHugh proved to be one of the deciding factors at the top of the leaderboard, as PapaCub would have likely been victorious had McHugh not been lights out against the Royals. Sanchocow was also on the McHugh train and rode him to a 3rd place finish with a Toronto/Tampa Bay stack. Bono6699 and pujols50 (heels123 on RG) also finished in the top ten.
FanDuel $100K Monster

What a night it was for Kuperman, who not only took down the $535 DFBC Q, but also roped in $8,000 for his 2nd place finish in the Monster. He also had a 10th place finish which featured Milwaukee and San Francisco mini stacks to add another $1,000 to his total. Thetrashman was part of the 7.5% of the field that played Colin McHugh at just $4,400, and it paid off in a big way as he shut down the Mariners in 7 innings (9 K’s) for a 20 FP night. He also went off the board with Adam Lind (1.3% owned), who delivered three hits (2 1B’s, 1 HR) along with two runs/RBI’s.
