MLB Big Events: Recapping DK Q's, FD DFBC Warmup

As the summer winds down, so does the MLB regular season and the grind that is day-to-day baseball, but we still have the $1,000,000 Championships to look forward to! Last night was a very busy night across the industry in terms of Championship Qualifiers, with DraftKings running two Atlantis Q’s and FanDuel running a $100K DFBC Warm-Up. Let’s see which of our members put up a big Tuesday night!

DraftKings $3.3M FBC Mega Qualifier

Last night’s Mega Qualifier awarded five entries to the Fantasy Baseball Championship in Atlantis, and a few of our members were able to sneak in to the multi-million dollar final. Draconfire came out on top with a score of 178.5 thanks to a big night from the A’s offense and a dominating performance by Chris Sale, and his second SP (Collin McHugh) was more then serviceable considering how the other popular pitching plays worked out. IllinSquad finished just a few points behind in 2nd place with a Sale/C.J. Wilson pitching staff to go along with his A’s stack, and bw5126 deployed a very similar lineup with McHugh as his second SP. An A’s stack was clearly the way to go last night, as Bales (GrindersU contributor) was also able to win himself a seat with that strategy, and also caught a 2-HR game from Chris Carter. Our very own GrindersCal drew the short stick thanks to an unfortunate blown save by Jake Petricka late in the night, which was almost salvaged by an incredible double play started by a diving Gordon Beckham. Either way, a $10K cash prize is a very nice consolation. DREWBOSKI, werth4949 and Dinkpiece also finished in the top ten.

The $27 Q was also taken down by Draconfire, and this guy couldn’t have done more with $227 then he did last night. He had just one entry in both the $27 and $200 Q’s, and managed to turn both of them into a shot at a million dollars, which is legitimately mind-blowing. What a sweat it must have been for him towards the end of last night’s games, and I doubt he was able to get much sleep after an adrenaline rush like that. Especially now that we are only about two weeks away from the final, he must be incredibly excited about the chance to compete at the highest level and I’d imagine he’ll have a hard time concentrating on anything else until Atlantis is said and done :)

IllinSquad was once again the 2nd place finisher, but he had to settle for the $3K consolation prize in this one (although I’m sure the Super Q helped ease the pain quite a bit). Dinkpiece, Kcannon, Makisupa and plord64 were also in the top ten of the $27 Q.

Here’s the Draconfire lineup that claimed 1st place in both DK Q’s last night

FanDuel $100K DFBC Warmup

ShawnGidley was our top finisher in last night’s $100K DFBC Warmup, and he was actually only a point and a half from sneaking into 1st place and taking down the $15K first prize. He ran out an A’s/Angels stack with Chris Sale on the hill, so the Petricka blown save cost him what should have been a 2nd place finish, but it’s hard to be upset with a 3rd place finish in a tournament this big (over 4,100 entries). TwoGun was next up with a 5th place finish, and he really went against the grain with C.J. Wilson on the hill, but his A’s mini-stack was able to help him overcome the big night from Sale. Soobv and devinr12 also finished in the top ten.
