The Pirates are visiting Coors Field today, and while the lineup should see some high pOwn% as a result, I won’t be looking to fade Pittsburgh or get dramatically under the field. The Pirates aren’t a top power offense in baseball – in fact, they rank last in ISO and last in SLG% vs. RHP this season. It’s not always the HRs we need in Coors Field, however. Despite ranking as the top overall hitters park according to MLB Park Factors over the past 3 seasons and the top park for boosting runs, Coors Field ranks just 10th for boosting HRs. The spacious dimensions built for the thin air allow the park to boost singles and triples more than any other park in the big leagues and doubles more than any park in the majors that doesn’t have a Green Monster.

RHP Ryan Feltner is on the mound for Colorado today, and he has had trouble with left-handed hitters (.375 wOBA allowed) throughout his career, and also unsurprisingly been worse at home (.373 wOBA allowed) than on the road (.333 wOBA allowed). I’ll be targeting the Pirates hitting from the left side of the plate today, starting with Bryan Reynolds (.206 ISO, .345 wOBA vs. RHP since the start of last season) and Oneil Cruz (.208 ISO, .361 wOBA). I’ll also have some lineups with Andrew McCutchen, leading off on the road with a .331 wOBA vs. RHP since the start of last year.
