MLB DFS - Million Dollar Musings - Friday, September 18th

Happy Friday! Many thanks to Allan for filling in yesterday and taking care of the Questions and Answers. The weather here cleared up in a hurry, but it was looking dicey Wednesday night with the power going in and out. It is also always an honor to be able to share with you the pleasure of Allan’s interesting vocabulary. He really has a way of describing how it feels to roster bad pitching.

This 12-game Friday night slate is going to be quite a doozy. We’ve got a couple of obvious offenses up top, but the pitching is spread out and difficult to sort through. Let’s jump on in and see what we find.

Friday Night Pitching

There are more than a dozen pitchers worth considering, and we don’t have clear lines of separation in tiers like we often see. The salaries are all pretty tightly bunched on DK as well, with FD having a couple of discrepancies. This is what the big ole bucket of everyone looks like:

Tyler Glasnow at Orioles
Zack Greinke vs Diamondbacks
Zach Plesac at Tigers
Chris Paddack vs Mariners
Kyle Hendricks vs Twins
Zac Gallen at Astros
Rich Hill at Cubs
Adrian Houser vs Royals
Max Fried at Mets
Chris Bassitt vs Giants
Yusei Kikuchi at Padres
Danny Duffy at Brewers
Jordan Montgomery at Red Sox
Tejay Antone vs White Sox
Jonathan Stiever at Reds

Let’s start with the top seven based on DK pricing, who are also all in the top eight salaries on FD along with the 2020 stats:

Zack Greinke vs Diamondbacks – 23% K, 3.5% BB, 3.77 ERA, 3.95 SIERA
Max Fried at Mets – 23.9% K, 8.6% BB, 1.98 ERA, 4.16 SIERA
Tyler Glasnow at Orioles – 37.4% K, 9.7% BB, 4.47 ERA, 3.18 SIERA
Zac Gallen at Astros – 27.4% K, 9.1% BB, 3.15 ERA, 4.07 SIERA
Zach Plesac at Tigers – 25.5% K, 2.0% BB, 2.20 ERA, 3.60 SIERA
Kyle Hendricks vs Twins – 19.7% K, 2.3% BB, 3.29 ERA, 4.03 SIERA
Chris Paddack vs Mariners – 25.4% K, 4.4% BB, 4.74 ERA, 3.72 SIERA
