MLB DFS - Million Dollar Musings - Opening Day 2020!

Happy Baseball! It is going to be incredibly difficult to break down these full slates early in the season. Things are tricky enough in a regular season, but without a normal spring training, before even factoring in the unusual season length, we’re simply going to be guessing on starting pitcher usage early on. While many pitchers were up to close to a full pitch count in their warm up games, they are still mostly behind where they would be in a normal season. On top of that, teams have larger rosters to open the season, meaning there are more relief pitchers available to get through these games.

On a big slate like this Opening Day, I am not going to be narrowing down my pitcher pool nearly as far as I typically do. We also have a lot of similarly skilled pitchers, since all teams are at the top of their rotation. As we start to get deeper into the season and schedules don’t match up, we will have some easier breakdowns, but I am not going to pretend to be able to separate groups of pitchers who are essentially at the same talent level.

We’ve got an 11-game main slate with a lot to dig into. I’m going to go ahead and post the pitching half of this breakdown early (Thursday) since it’s a lot to chew on. I will have the hitter analysis posted sometime later on Thursday and then I’ll be updating as needed throughout the day on Friday.
