Covering the Bases: Saturday, September 23
STLCardinals84, one of the best tournament players in the game, is here to cover the bases for the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cards has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Saturday, everyone! This has all the makings of a wild day. We have confusing split slates today, with FanDuel and DraftKings going in different directions in their handling of the situation.
DraftKings is offering us a nine game main slate starting at 1:05 PM ET (now 2:10 PM ET) but we have a ton of weather to worry about. FanDuel has split up the early games into two smaller slates.
FanDuel is offering us a five game main slate starting at 6:40 PM ET, while DraftKings has removed the CIN / PIT game and has a four game night slate starting at 7:05 PM ET.
Are you confused yet? It’s going to be that kind of day. I am going to start by discussing the nine game early slate on DK, and that will encompass both of the FD early slates if you are playing over there. Let’s get rolling and uncover some MLB DFS picks for this Saturday!
Saturday Afternoon Weather
We need to start this discussion by talking about the weather. If you are playing the afternoon slate, you are going to need to keep an eye on this given the tropical storm that is making landfall on the east coast. Here are the issues we need to keep an eye on, and here is Kevin Roth’s updated weather page.
ATL/WSH – This game has already been POSTPONED.
ARI/NYY – This game has already been POSTPONED.
NYM/PHI – This game is listed as RED/ORANGE, and Roth believes that an early PPD is likely.
CHW/BOS – This game is listed as straight ORANGE, with an early PPD possible.
The only game that seems remotely likely to play out of this group is the CHW / BOS game. I will include that one in my writeup below, but I am not going to include any of the games that have RED in the forecast to prevent mindlessly discussing something that ends up becoming irrelevant an hour later. Again, we will need to keep an eye on this, and I will add updates here if they become appropriate.
