MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, August 3

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Jonathan Aranda
headChopper: Jonathan Aranda
ebeimfohr: Jonathan Aranda

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I don’t love this slate at all, and while I’d say it’s a better MME slate, I don’t think I want to play that many lineups. Basically, we have one clear top pitcher, and then it’s all just random dart-throwing after him. And on the hitting side, with Tampa appropriately priced, it’s basically a huge, tangled mess with the bats as well. In MME, I guess I’d be very spread out, but I’d rather just pick a few favorites and go heavier on them, even knowing that it’s basically just a guess. For me, that is going to be fading Coors and playing more Yankees, Astros, and Blue Jays on DK and adding the Nationals in on FD.

headChopper: I like playing one lineup on each site in small-field contests tonight. There are some decent pitching options, but no one is as good as Cam Schlittler, so even at that high price, I want him locked in, especially on FanDuel, where it’s easier to spend up at pitcher and still get quality bats. While I like some of the next tier of arms, I want to save money at my SP2 spot on DraftKings. I want as much Rays exposure as I can squeeze in after that, and with Junior Caminero’s elevated price, that probably means I won’t have him on my rosters. I’ll settle for some of the more affordable Rays and then round out my lineups with a few salary-saving hitters who still have upside.

ebeimfohr: There are no particularly safe pitchers on either site outside of Cam Schlittler, so I will be building my lineups around him. That will certainly not be a unique strategy, so I will be willing to take some risks at SP2 on DK who have lower pOWN% (e.g. Michael King, Brandon Pfaadt) and by fading the Rays entirely with my bats and pivoting to teams like the Yankees, Giants, and Nats (on FD).

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
