MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, June 24
Who is your favorite salary saver for large-field tournaments?
squirrelpatrol: Salvador Perez (FD) / Jake Burger (DK)
headChopper: Jack Suwinski
ebeimfohr: Tyler Soderstrom
eys819: Jack Suwinski
Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
squirrelpatrol: Spencer Schwellenbach – I wrote up Schwellenbach before his start last week, saying that he fits the mold of a good young prospect who has a couple of rough starts to his major league career, and then everyone forgets about him because his visible MLB stats are terrible. Schwellenbach proceeded to throw 6 innings with 1 ER and 7 Ks against Detroit. Now he faces a Cardinals team with the 9th-highest K% vs. RHP at roughly the same price tag he was at last week.
headChopper: Cole Ragans – He has hit a very average patch right now, but he still sports great peripheral numbers, showing that he is a really good pitcher. He’s got the 3rd-highest K rate this season of the pitchers on this slate, and he limits the hard contact and works deep into games. What makes him stand out is the matchup against a dreadful Miami lineup. They are dead last in MLB this season in slugging, ISO, and wRC+ when facing left-handed pitching.
ebeimfohr: Cole Ragans – There appears to be a fairly clear top two at pitcher, and I’ll side with Ragans over Steele despite being a bit pricier. The Marlins lineup just lacks any punch, especially against LHP, where they have a league-worst 66 wRC+ in 2024 with a woeful .102 ISO. Ragans has continued to be one of the best pitchers in baseball this year with a 29% K rate and 3.21 xFIP.
eys819: Garrett Crochet – Cole Ragans is great and probably the “safest” pitcher, but I cannot ignore the ownership discount that is projected for Garrett Crochet. The Dodgers are scary, no doubt, but they are still without Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman has struggled with lefties this season. I see three hitters to be scared of and then a bunch of average hitters. Crochet owns a 35% strikeout rate this season and can dominate this lineup if he is on his game.
