MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, June 6
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
headChopper: Rafael Devers
tcsmith031: Christopher Morel
Dean78904: Mookie Betts
ebeimfohr: Mookie Betts
Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
headChopper: Sonny Gray – Sonny Boy is an elite fantasy play tonight, bolstered by advanced metrics that highlight his dominance. His xFIP and SIERA indicate strong underlying performance, while his 31.5% strikeout rate and 14.1% swinging-strike rate showcase his ability to miss bats effectively. Gray’s elite chase rate and low hard-hit percentage reflect his ability to induce weak contact. His pitch mix, particularly his high-spin sweeper, has been sick- resulting in those 12.1 K/9 this year.
tcsmith031: Sonny Gray – Just about anyone facing the Rockies away from Coors Field is going to be viable, and Sonny Gray also happens to be the best pitcher on the slate to begin with. Gray’s 33.5% strikeout rate on the season is the highest of his career, while his 2.62 SIERA manages to make his tidy 3.00 ERA look a bit unlucky. Colorado’s projected lineup tonight is striking out more than 26% of the time vs. RHP this year.
Dean78904: Sonny Gray – The veteran Cardinal is having a career year at the age of 34. Gray hits the exacta of having both the highest K rate on the slate (33.5%) and the lowest SIERA (2.62). Throw in a matchup vs the inept Rockies outside of Coors, and we’re hitting the trifecta of boxes we love seeing checked when considering pitchers. He is going to be popular, but I’m expecting to lean in as I think this is good chalk.
ebeimfohr: Sonny Gray – He will be popular, but he certainly should be. Aside from one not-great outing against the Brewers, Sonny has been borderline unhittable this season. He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball with a 33.5% K rate and just a 6.5% BB rate with a 2.49 xFIP. He gets to face the lowly Rockies lineup outside of Coors tonight.
