What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I like smaller-field and single-entry tournaments tonight. This looks like a slate where we’re going to have some chalk that is really not any better than anything else. I would expect the Astros and Red Sox to pick up a ton of ownership, and I would be fading the Astros anyway. I do like the Red Sox quite a bit at their salaries, but I’m willing to pivot off of them in these smaller-field contests. I find a lot of mini stacks and one-off power bats that I love, so my go-to strategy will not be fully stacking but making sure I get as many high-upside bats as I can into my lineups. I’m less concerned with fading chalk on the pitching side, although I am hopeful that Matthew Boyd, who is my favorite pitcher anyway, comes in a little lower owned.
headChopper: I’m focusing on single-entry, smaller-field contests on DraftKings. Unfortunately, I’m locked in with 100 lineups in a large-field GPPs on FanDuel and don’t want to cancel them individually, so I’ll stick with it. After signing up, I took a closer look at the weather and realized I may have made a mistake. With 10 games on tap, this level of pitching and hitting volatility, and the weather, almost anything can happen in a large-field setup. It feels like people might talk themselves out of the Astros at Coors Field, which could give me a slight differential. I also think pitching ownership will be spread out, so I can play one spend-up and one salary saver on DraftKings.
stevietpfl: I like single-entry contests tonight. I will build 3-5 teams in those contests. I want to fade the Astros in Coors and be overweight on the Red Sox, Braves, Diamondbacks, and Rockies. I like the value of the Mariners and Royals as well. As far as pitching, I like Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Jacob deGrom at the top. I think Matthew Boyd and Clay Holmes are great tournament options in the mid-tier. Grant Holmes has strikeout upside, and he will round out the pitching options I’ll be playing on this slate. I want to prioritize pitching more than hitting.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller field contests, and I don’t make a lot of lineups. I do this on every slate, but today especially, I’ll be tuning into Crunch Time to see where Kevin Roth lands on the handful of weather games that currently look dicey. Despite having the highest implied team total on the board, I expect to be under the field on the Astros in Coors Field. I expect to have at least one of Jacob deGrom, Grant Holmes, or Yoshinobu Yamamoto in every lineup.
