Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Taj Bradley – I don’t have a strong preference between Bradley and Shota Imanaga, although I strongly prefer both over everyone else on the slate. I’m calling Bradley my SP1 because his strikeout ability is a step ahead of Imanaga’s. Bradley’s already slate-leading 27.5% K rate is up to 33.1% over the past month, and he faces a Giants team whose active roster has the 6th-highest K% in the league while ranking last in ISO against RHP. I also don’t see any reason to expect the Twins to limit Bradley’s pitch count, as we saw when they allowed Zebby Matthews to throw 100 pitches last night.

headChopper: Shota Imanaga – I think Taj Bradley is just as good tonight in his matchup, but I’ll go with Shota because of the weather at Wrigley. It looks like incredible pitching weather there. The one issue he has is giving up home runs, and it’s going to take a lot to serve up meatballs in this weather, so that should really help his style. Miami is currently implied for just 2.66 runs, which is one of the lowest totals you’ll ever see in baseball. If the venues were neutral, Bradley would be my choice, as these two are nearly identical statistically outside of the home runs Shota surrenders. But with the weather, I think Shota gets pushed slightly ahead of Bradley.

stevietpfl: Taj Bradley – Bradley gets the benefit of facing a Triple-A-level Giants lineup. San Francisco’s projected order doesn’t feature a single hitter with an ISO over .200 and a wOBA over .350 against RHP this season. The projected starting lineup has a .107 ISO with a .290 wOBA and a 22.3% strikeout rate against RHP this season. Bradley has been great lately, posting a 32.8% strikeout rate with a .142 ISO and a .263 wOBA allowed over the last 30 days, and he’ll look to finish the season strong in this above-average matchup.

Dean78904: Shota Imanaga – This is pretty straightforward. No pitcher in baseball has served up more dingers this season. In fact, no qualified pitcher has given up a greater percentage of opponent runs via the home run than Imanaga (69.9%). This is true with all pitchers, but more so than anyone else, Imanaga keeping the ball in the park directly correlates with success. I note all of that to say this: our WeatherEdge tool is telling us (and the oddsmakers are confirming) that we have an anti Wrigley Wind game expected, as the oddsmakers have a 6.5 run total posted. Less than 3 of those runs are delegated to the Marlins, as the Cubs are the biggest favorite on the board. In summary, assuming the wind does its job, Imanaga has a great chance to post a usable fantasy score.
