MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, June 5
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
squirrelpatrol: Aaron Judge
tcsmith031: Aaron Judge
TheLuuch: Christopher Morel
Alex Sonty: Aaron Judge
Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
squirrelpatrol: Joey Estes – Mitch Spence put up a disappointing 3 strikeouts against Seattle last night, but he still racked up a quality start, and I’m willing to take the risk that Estes can put up an even better start against Seattle tonight. The Mariners have a league-leading 28.2% K% against RHP this season, and Estes has a career-high 23.0% K% through his first 4 starts this year.
tcsmith031: Dylan Cease – Cease’s 30.9% strikeout rate this season is as elite as ever, while he’s even lowered his walk rate to a career-best 7.4%. The Angels just aren’t an imposing lineup at all against RHP. Their projected lineup is sporting a .288 wOBA, a .142 ISO, and a strikeout rate north of 23% vs. RHP this season, and Cease’s salary is hardly cumbersome on a slate with plenty of value elsewhere.
TheLuuch: Braxton Garrett – It’s a little more uncomfortable rostering Garrett compared to someone like Dylan Cease, but the massive salary difference can help pay huge dividends when looking for elite bats on this slate. A few of the best offenses are in the great spots to damage, which means you’ll need some salary relief. Garrett is probably a bit underpriced on each site, and he flashed serious upside after knocking off some rust during his first couple of outings. His current pOWN% is no higher than 20% on either site, and I’ll happily take that for tournaments.
Alex Sonty: Braxton Garrett – The leash is scary with Braxton Garrett, but his price tag is so low with great per-inning production that I’m not passing this ceiling up. Garrett doesn’t regularly go into the 6th inning, but he has a complete game shutout this season. He isn’t a massive strikeout pitcher, but he has a 29.8% CSW rate — dating back to the start of the 2023 season — and this Rays projected lineup has a 27% K rate against lefties over that span. This is a sneaky ceiling spot for a pitcher with solid power prevention in an extreme pitcher-friendly park.
