MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, April 5

Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Freddy Peralta – It seems like general consensus is still that Peralta is a wild, unpredictable pitcher, but he has improved his control considerably, down to a very acceptable 7.9% BB% last season. He was in mid-season form in his first start, allowing just 1 hit and 1 run in 6 strong innings, with an 8:1 K:BB ratio. Seattle has some power, but it comes with plenty of strikeout upside, and with his discount from Strider, I’m comfortable with Peralta as my SP1.

boggslite: Freddy Peralta – Nothing against Strider, but give me the salary savings from Peralta with a solid matchup against a strikeout-heavy opponent tonight. He seemed to have turned the page last season and was sharp in his first start to open the year, making him my top price play.

ebeimfohr: Freddy Peralta – The Mariners offense is just a tough scene right now. Outside of Julio Rodriguez, there’s nothing to fear, and they have 5 hitters with a 23.7% K rate or higher vs. RHP since the start of 2023. Freddy has struck out 32% of righties and 27% of lefties since the start of 2022 with a sub-.285 xwOBA allowed to each side of the plate.

Alex Sonty: Spencer Strider – Not the strong strikeout matchup that Freddy Peralta has, but I don’t really care because Strider’s stuff is the best strikeout stuff in the league by a wide margin. Since the start of 2022, his 159 K/9+ is the best in baseball. Way behind him is Blake Snell at 138 in second. The difference between Strider and Snell in K/9+ is the difference between Snell and Joe Ryan. The Diamondbacks’ 3.4 total is the lowest on the board by a hair. I’m probably playing Strider in all three of my DK lineups and in my single-entry team on FD. Playing MME, I could easily go 50% on both sites.
