MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, April 1st
Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Alex Sonty: Yordan Alvarez – I’m not going to pretend to know much about Bowden Francis, but I see 1.6 HR/9 allowed in the minors in 2021, 2.1 in 2022, and 1.8 in 2023 to go with 10 barrels allowed in 36.1 MLB IP in 2023. THE BAT projects him for a whopping 1.65 HR/9 allowed for 2024. And he’s right-handed. This has Yordong written all over it, considering Alvarez’s 21% barrel rate since 2023 against RHPs.
headChopper: Juan Soto – To be fair, with a lot of marginal pitching and some really good offenses on this slate, the designation of “top overall hitter” could go to about 15 different guys equally. I’ll list Soto because he gets a good matchup and is hitting in a very good lineup right now. He looked in good form to open the year with a solid 9 hits and 3 walks in 20 plate appearances against solid pitching.
ebeimfohr: Mookie Betts – Betts is a top 5 (or higher) hitter in all of baseball, hitting atop a lineup that is otherworldly. He has gotten off to a hot start hitting in front of Ohtani and Freeman, and for DFS purposes, he is playable at 2B/SS, which is a huge boost to his value, especially in a matchup with someone like Keaton Winn.
eys819: Mookie Betts – The positional eligibility (2B/SS) pushes Betts to the top of the list for me. He hits atop the most potent lineup in baseball, and he is off to a scorching hot start to the season. Betts has posted 3 multi-hit games and 4 home runs in 6 games to begin his 2024 campaign.
