MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, April 8
Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
squirrelpatrol: Kyle Schwarber – Schwarber hit 32 HRs off RHP last season in 378 ABs, good for a .296 ISO. Tonight, he’s facing a pitcher in Miles Mikolas, who allowed a .488 SLG% to righties compared to .422 to lefties. Schwarber has one of the best HR odds on the board and should be hitting in the leadoff spot again for the Phillies.
headChopper: Christian Walker – My #1 stack will be Arizona, so it makes sense for one of these hitters to be my favorite. Kyle Freeland has a hard time striking out righties, and this Arizona team is a contact-heavy lineup vs. LHP. Last season, Walker had a .303 ISO vs. LHP and only struck out ~18% of the time while walking over 10% and having all that power. In 31 at-bats against Freeland, Walker has only struck out 3 times. It’s Coors, and all we can ask for is solid contact.
ebeimfohr: Shohei Ohtani – Slates where we can get the very best hitters in baseball in strong matchups at tiny projected ownership are the best, and I think Ohtani represents that today. He got off to a slow start, but he has turned it on over the last few games, with 2 hits in each of his last 4 games, including 5 for extra bases. He has home run and stolen base upside and draws a matchup with Bailey Ober. I am a big fan of Ober, but he was bad in the spring and was truly horrible in his first start. If that continues, the Dodgers are going to put up a big number, led by Ohtani.
eys819: Matt Olson – The Braves get a matchup with journeyman righty Julio Teheran, who is now on his 5th team in the last 5 seasons he has pitched. He continues to be the same guy, with below-average strikeouts and loads of hard contact allowed at each stop. Olson was one of the best hitters in baseball last season, posting a .346 ISO and .447 wOBA versus RHP.
