MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, April 6

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I don’t think there is anything sneaky about fading the expensive pitchers, but that is still my go-to strategy in order to spend up for bats. It looks to me like the best way to be different without fading the obvious best plays is by not stacking any of the top-tier offenses. Things like playing Acuna/Tucker instead of Alvarez/Tucker doesn’t lose you any upside and makes your lineups different from those made by everyone who is stacking.

Krayton: I will have a small pitching pool and will be more focused on paying up for stacks than paying up for pitching. Reid Detmers is the highest-priced pitcher I will be focused on, as there isn’t much at the top that I feel great about. I will also be getting to a fair amount of Clarke Schmidt, Keaton Winn, and DL Hall where I need value. I have a lot of interest in the top stacks, such as Texas, Atlanta, and the Coors Field game (if it plays), so I will be looking to save at pitcher.

tcsmith031: Casting a wide net with stacks looks like the way to go. I don’t mind eating some chalk with the Royals in a great spot against the middling Chris Flexen, as it’s easy to get different with lower-owned secondary stacks. The White Sox, Mariners, and Brewers are a few teams on my radar that aren’t projected to pull a ton of ownership.

TJ Zwarych: I’m going to try and keep a fairly tight pitching pool, focused on Reid Detmers, Kevin Gausman, and the cheap options like DL Hall and Clarke Schmidt. I don’t feel overly comfortable with any pitching option, but Gausman is the one expensive arm I don’t want to fade, as he has the highest strikeout upside.

Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
