MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, September 19

How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: We have four clear aces on this slate, and while I expect Blake Snell to be the most popular on DK, we should get ownership spread out enough to not be a huge concern. Salary is the more pressing concern with so many bats to spend on, so my lean is to skip Strider on DK, and use just one of the other three (Snell, Castillo, Gallen) along with a cheaper SP2, mostly Clarke Schmidt or Paul Blackburn. Because offense is so spread out, I am not going to overthink the pitcher side of things. There appears to be some chance we end up with Cleveland chalk, and other than Jose Ramirez, I am more than happy to fade Cleveland chalk any day and every day. I love the spend up stacks, led by the Dodgers and Padres, and this is why I want to use a cheaper SP2 on DK. I will also be heavy on the White Sox and Nationals against two pitchers who should probably be in a coach-pitch little league game.

stevietpfl: I think there are a lot of ways to get different on this slate. With my 3-entry max builds, I’m going to fade Castillo and Strider and go all-in on Snell/Gallen. With the bats, I love fading Cleveland chalk, and outside of Bo Naylor on DraftKings, that’s exactly what I plan on doing.

squirrelpatrol: I didn’t win a million dollars last night playing two back-up RBs (and get my own shout-out in the Million Dollar Musings) to wake up and play Blake Snell and a low-power Cleveland offense when they’re both projected to be high-owned on a 12-game slate. I’ll primarily look to be under the field on the more expensive pitchers and pair stacks of the more expensive bats with lower-owned high-upside options like Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

boggslite: Pay up for pitching. It will be tempting to spend down at SP tonight, but most of the cheaper targets are just as likely to bomb than come through with a big game. All four of the aces available are worth spending up for, in my opinion, as they have solid matchups and slate-breaking potential. This means I will likely look to some cheaper stacks in good matchups, preferring the high floor/ceiling of the aces and hoping their ownership doesn’t get out of hand.

Dean78904: We are fully loaded with pitching tonight. Additionally, we have some appealing pricy stacks as well, so this is the classic “we live in the world of a salary cap” conundrum. Arms are more predictive than bats so my lean is to first prioritize pitching. The opportunity cost is real with all the elite arms, and I plan to have at least one SP stud in every DK lineup. While I’m interested in a couple of discounted arms (Clarke Schmidt and Paul Blackburn), I just trust I can find cheap, useful bats easier than arms. It is early, but 7 of the Top 10 highest OWN% projected hitters are Guardians. If that holds, I will absolutely have less Cleveland than the field.

Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
