Million Dollar Musings, Part II - Hitters: Friday, April 14

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Sometimes life gives you cheesecake, and sometimes life gives you the Twins scoring more runs in the first inning than the Cardinals, Blue Jays, Brewers and Padres combined score in their entire games. Baseball really is a glorious sport in its own bizarre little way.
We are back to it with a busy, pitcher-less 12-game slate. There are exactly zero good pitching options tonight, and yet somehow, there are really not any great hitting spots either. I don’t know how the world managed to make this happen, but here we are.

Now let’s take a look at the wide open hitting side of things.
Friday Hitting: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

I have spent the last twelve minutes and 41 seconds looking at this hitting slate. I am exhausted and confused. I am going to get some more coffee, I’ll be right back….Hi, I’m back!
So more so than any slate so far this season, we need to pause and talk about what it is that I am trying to do in the Musings. I can first tell you what I am not trying to do – I am not trying to tell you who to play. I can next tell you more things that I am not trying to do – I am not trying to predict the future or act like I know what is going to happen in a baseball game tonight.
What I am trying to do is to show you my thought process and what data I’m looking at. And then, I am telling you how I am using that information to play DFS on that day.
The reason this is extra important information today of all days is that I can put 15 offenses in my top tier with essentially zero separation between them. For me to pretend like there are 3-4 elite must play spots would be disingenuous. I’m always going to tell you exactly what I see, what I think, and what I’m doing with that information. It’s just that some days, like today, you might not like that information.
So with that, this is what my list looks like:
TOP TIER OFFENSE
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Johan Oviedo
Seattle Mariners vs. Austin Gomber
NY Yankees vs. Louis Varland
Cleveland Guardians at Trevor Williams
LA Angels at Tanner Houck
Boston Red Sox vs. Patrick Sandoval
NY Mets at James Kaprielian
Tampa Bay Rays at Jose Berrios
Toronto Blue Jays vs. Drew Rasmussen
LA Dodgers vs. Justin Steele
Atlanta Braves at Brady Singer
Baltimore Orioles at Mike Clevinger
Chicago White Sox vs. Tyler Wells
Houston Astros vs. Martin Perez
San Diego Padres vs. Eric Lauer
TIER TWO OFFENSE
Milwaukee Brewers at Michael Wacha
Pittsburgh Pirates at Jake Woodford
Chicago Cubs at Noah Syndergaard
Colorado Rockies at Marco Gonzales

PLAY A LITTLE OF ALL OF THESE TEAMS
Everything about this slate bizarre. No good pitching, and really no good offense. Well, that’s not quite accurate. No good pitching, and no great offense, with a ridiculous ton of good offense.
