Happy Thursday! We’ve got a slow day in MLB with just three games on the slate tonight. The headline is a playoff-caliber matchup between the two best teams in the league with the Braves travelling to LA to take on the Dodgers.
Let’s take a look at the MLB DFS picks and talk through a few different ways to go about building lineups on this three-game slate.
Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

This slate gives us three good pitchers, with the obvious tough matchups for Strider and Lynn and then a few cheap nonsense dart throws that would be completely irrelevant on a bigger slate. Because of the salary cap, the cheap nonsense may be somewhat in play on DK, but let’s take a look and see what we find.
The Ace And The Other Two Aces
Spencer Strider at Dodgers – 38.1% K, 7.6% BB, 3.46 ERA, 2.75 SIERA
Lance Lynn vs. Braves – 25.8% K, 7.7% BB, 5.56 ERA, 3.99 SIERA
Braxton Garrett at Nationals – 24.3% K, 3.8% BB, 3.96 ERA, 3.45 SIERA

This is such a strange conundrum with Spencer Strider against the Dodgers. His strikeout upside is matchup-proof, but he’s also $12k on both sites against one of the best lineups in the league. If this were a bigger slate, I’d tell you that I love Strider at low ownership with his ceiling potential. But today, there is no way around him picking up ownership due to the size of the slate. Let me look at the next two pitchers first, and then we’ll come back to Strider.
Lance Lynn has been better since joining the Dodgers, but this is still a guy with power issues, and we’ve still seen the strikeouts come and go. His last two starts have resulted in just three strikeouts in 13 innings, getting by more on control and limited hard contact. Assuming the Braves go with five righties and four lefties, there is moderate upside here, but I’m far more concerned about the power risk. In this case, despite the massive salary gap, I’m on the Strider side ahead of Lynn.
