Happy Thursday! We’ve got an early day with a busy 9-game slate starting at 1:05pm ET. We have a similar setup to last night where the Coors Field game has far and away the highest total, but there are plenty of other things to like. We also have the return of Justin Verlander in a pristine matchup against the Tigers.
I’m going to attempt to be a little less wordy than usual so we can get this out in plenty of time for the early start. I’ll be able to update any final thoughts on this slate with an early Crunchtime starting at 12:20pm ET. And then it will be lunch time!

While Verlander is the headliner here, we have quite a few good pitchers in good matchups at the top of the pool, followed by some cheaper dart throws.
Justin And His Ace-like Friends
Justin Verlander at Tigers
Pablo Lopez at White Sox
George Kirby at A’s
Grayson Rodriguez at Royals
Zach Eflin vs. Pirates

This slate gets interesting in a hurry with the return of Justin Verlander, just in time for a matchup with Detroit. And even mostly healthy, somewhat normal Verlander against Detroit would be something like a lock button. However, this is Verlander’s first start of the season after a shoulder injury and throwing just one 69-pitch rehab start. He looked normal enough in that minor league rehab start with a 6:1 K:BB, but we have to assume at least some sort of pitch count here. My hunch is that we’re looking at the 80-85 pitch range. If he’s just immediately full strength 2022 Verlander, then he’s the SP1 even at 80 pitches against Detroit.
