MLB DFS Top Stacks: Friday, July 14

Derek Farnsworth walks you through the top stacks for the upcoming MLB main slate. Should we eat the chalk? Which team is a good pivot? Where can we find leverage? Find out below!
MLB DFS is complex. Most articles on MLB DFS picks are about the individual players most likely to succeed on any given day, but the MLB DFS picks most likely to succeed aren’t always the MLB DFS picks we should be most likely to play.
In this space, we will look at the MLB DFS process over the MLB DFS picks. And we’re looking at teams over individual players, using the features of the RotoGrinders Top Stacks tool. We’ll still look at the player projections available in LineupHQ. Still, we’ll be more focused on collective ownership, optimal scores, and matchups of full stacks within the context of game selection and leverage.
I don’t know about you, but I love the NBA and MLB All-Star breaks. I love the daily grind of betting and playing DFS, but there is something nice about taking a forced break. I was able to spend some much needed quality time with my little one, I found a new love in the sport of tennis (we will see if it sticks), and I have genuinely missed making baseball lineups. The MLB is back in action on Friday night and 28 of the 30 teams are featured on the main slate. I’m here to walk you through some of the best stacking options for the slate, so let’s get right into it.
Chalk Stack – Yankees vs. Austin Gomber (Coors Field)

The Yankees have the perfect storm to get their offense rolling coming out of the All-Star break. They are playing in Coors Field, they are facing one of the most hittable pitchers on the slate, and they are quite affordable for a team that has a total of more than seven runs by itself. I’ve never been great at predicting ownership, but even I knew the Yankees would be the chalk stack before checking the ownership projections. The question is whether they are still a plus-EV stack at this ownership. To determine this, we like to compare pOWN% to Opto% in our simulations.
