MLB DFS Top Stacks: Friday (July 28)

Derek Farnsworth walks you through the top stacks for the upcoming MLB main slate. Should we eat the chalk? Which team is a good pivot? Where can we find leverage? Find out below!
MLB DFS is complex. Most articles on MLB DFS picks are about the individual players most likely to succeed on any given day, but the MLB DFS picks most likely to succeed aren’t always the MLB DFS picks we should be most likely to play.
In this space, we will look at the MLB DFS process over the MLB DFS picks. And we’re looking at teams over individual players, using the features of the RotoGrinders Top Stacks tool. We’ll still look at the player projections available in LineupHQ. Still, we’ll be more focused on collective ownership, optimal scores, and matchups of full stacks within the context of game selection and leverage.
While I don’t mind a short slate every now and then, a three-game main slate was too small for my liking last night. Luckily, we don’t have to worry about that this evening. There are 14 games on the main slate, which means we have 28 teams to choose from when it comes to our stacks. If you are a regular reader of this article on Fridays, you know that I can’t stay away from the A’s and now they are playing in Coors Field. It’s going to be a fun night.

Chalk Stack – Guardians vs. Touki Toussaint

This is a rare slate where ownership isn’t really concentrating around one offense in particular. On DraftKings, there are six teams projected between 5.5% and 7.2% ownership and on FanDuel, there are five teams projected between 5.1% and 8.3% ownership. The Guardians have the highest combined pOWN between the two sites, so I guess we will call them the chalk stack for tonight. While they aren’t showing up as the most optimal stack, they are currently second with an Opto% of 7%.
