MLB DFS Top Stacks: Monday, September 9th
MLB DFS is complex. Most articles are about the individual players most likely to succeed, but the MLB DFS picks most likely to succeed aren’t always the MLB DFS picks we should be most likely to play. With some help from our Top Stacks tool, we will aim to look more at the process instead of just the picks and the teams instead of just the players. We’ll still analyze the MLB player projections that are available in our MLB optimizer, LineupHQ. However, we’ll be more focused on collective ownership, optimal scores, and matchups of full stacks within the context of game selection and leverage.
We can literally fully stack all 12 teams on this slate and probably should in MME. We’ll highlight the standouts in this space, but play whoever you want.
All stats cited are since the start of the 2024 season unless otherwise noted.

CHALK STACK
Guardians at Nick Nastrini
Nick Nastrini has no redeemable quality about him and the White Sox bullpen is bad.
Nastrini has allowed 8.91 BB/9 to just 6.68 K/9, along with 1.95 HR/9. And this isn’t a hot prospect who could become good any day now. In Triple-A this season, he allowed 5.24 BB/9 and 1.82 HR/9.
The Guardians don’t have a ton of power, but they’re a legitimate major league baseball team facing this pile of crap. We can play everyone, but we’re prioritizing the higher barrel rates against righties of:
Kyle Manzardo, 13.3% [88 PAs]
Josh Naylor, 8.5%
Bo Naylor, 7.1%
We can always play Jose Ramirez and his .208 ISO against righties in the heart of the order. On FD, that’s our full stack. On DK, don’t agonize over the 5th man. Just play whatever fits with our secondary stack and pitching.
All of this said, I’ll probably be fading Guardians stacks in my 3-5 lineups. They’ll be mega chalk on a slate where we can literally stack everyone else, so I’m gonna allocate my resources toward lower ownership to better place myself in positions to win tournaments.
