A suggestion or assumption of the existence, fact, or truth of something as a basis for reasoning, discussion, or belief.

Happy Thursday and Happy October! We’ve already seen three series end quickly, so we’re down to a five-game slate for today. As I’m writing this early Thursday morning, the pitchers in the White Sox-A’s game are not confirmed, but I’m assuming it’s Dunning-Fiers, and will update later if that changes. We’ve got more good pitching on tap today, as we will all playoffs long, so the offense will continue to be hard to come by.
