How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

STLCardinals84: I won’t be prioritizing full Coors Field stacks tonight with other teams in fantastic spots. The Astros, Dodgers, and Padres are all high-end offenses facing weak pitchers tonight, and they could just as easily put up 10+ runs on the night. I will cast a wide night with offense exposure and be narrower with my pitcher pool this evening.

eys819: Burnes and deGrom are fantastic options at the top of the pitching board, but that leaves Darvish and Nola left behind in ownership. I will likely go underweight on Burnes to get overweight on those two. Giolito is the clear value option in the mid-range due to his matchup, and I have some interest in the return of Lance McCullers tonight as well. There are several great spots for offense tonight even outside of Coors. I am likely to be underweight ARI to go overweight on SDP and HOU.

krayton: I am going to be paying up at pitcher tonight and utilizing Jacob deGrom, Corbin Burnes, Lucas Giolito (for value), and a little bit of Aaron Nola in most if not all of my lineups. Although I like Arizona in Coors tonight, I really like the Dodgers, Padres, Astros and the Yankees as great tournament options tonight. The Giants provide great value to allow you to spend up at pitching and to get another top stack like the ones I mentioned. I like having a narrow pitcher pool and then full stacking my top five stacks.

TastefulTides: This feels very similar to last night’s slate. A really strong group of aces at the top and one easy value pitcher to sprinkle in for tournaments on FanDuel and DraftKings. I will likely start out with deGrom/Giolito as my primary pairing. However if find enough value I will try and get to Burnes over Giolito. Arizona remains the top stack on the board despite their very underwhelming performance last night. I am even more inclined to get to them today facing an even worse pitcher in Jose Urena. If you don’t want to eat the chalk, I think that LAD or SDP are strong sources of premium bats mixed in with some cheaper value pieces.

drizzy26: I’m going to keep it simple today at pitching and play one of only three pitchers. Burnes, deGrom and Giolito are what those three would be, but I would be well overweight on deGrom and Burnes for sure as they are the two clear best options. Lucas is just in a great spot with the price being where it’s at, and it’s hard not to play him today. For me, just being at the field is enough. Stack wise I will try to be well overweight on teams like the Dodgers, Padres and Houston today. I like running only full stacks today to I would be prioritizing 4-3 and 4-2 today.

Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

STLCardinals84: Corbin Burnes – I love Jacob deGrom as much as everyone else, but deGrom is also going to be the highest owned pitcher on the slate after his last outing. He reminded us of his ridiculous upside by striking out 12 batters in just 5 2/3 innings. He struck out 12 batters and only threw 76 pitches. Amazing. That performance is obviously the ceiling at that kind of pitch count, though he should get closer to the 85-90 pitch range this evening. We can’t expect the same efficiency every time. As such, I don’t mind the pivot to Burnes. This is a big game for Milwaukee after losing last night, and Burnes has pitched 14 scoreless innings against the Cardinals already this season. His skill set is rivaled only by deGrom on this slate, and the overall profile remains fantastic.

eys819: Jacob deGrom – He was up to 76 pitches in his last start, so we don’t quite have fully stretched out deGrom yet, but we are getting close. He should flirt with 90 pitches tonight and gets a matchup against a Phillies team missing their two best hitters (assuming Schwarber is still out). deGrom has struck out half the batters he has faced through his first two starts and walked only one. He has proven he is healthy and still the best pitcher on the planet, so load him up with confidence tonight.

krayton: Jacob deGrom – deGrom will be making his third start of the season tonight and he has been stellar in his first two starts. He has 18 strikeouts in just 10.2 innings and the BAT has him projected for 8.8 Ks tonight, which is the highest on the slate. I also like Corbin Burnes a ton and will certainly have exposure to both, but for my single entry contests, I like the upside that deGrom brings tonight. I will note that Lucas Giolito is priced down and gets an amazing matchup tonight against Detroit. Kopech pitched like an All Star last night so I expect Giolito could do the same. If you need to save money, I could see where Giolito could be utilized.

TastefulTides: Jacob deGrom – I don’t think there is a safer option in all of baseball then rostering deGrom as your SP1. He is a generational talent and as a big fan of baseball I am glad that he is back in action. He is your clear option at the top for cash games and whatever his projected ownership is for tournaments I would get overweight.

drizzy26: Jacob deGrom – It’s just easy to lock him in as a SP1 today since he has come back strong from injury. He is by far the best strikeout pitcher in baseball, and the matchup against the Phillies will only help that more as they might be without Kyle Schwarber again today. To me, just lock him in or just play him in about 70% of your lineups today.

Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

STLCardinals84: Byron Buxton – The only question with Buxton is with his always frustrating injury concerns, but he seems healthy right now. He is up to 27 home runs on the season with a ridiculous .368 ISO and 49% hard contact rate against LHP. I love the matchup against a relatively low strikeout lefty in Detmers tonight, and he’s not going to carry massive ownership.

eys819: Ketel Marte – He is hitting near the top of the lineup on the road in Coors, and he has eligibility at a weak 2B position. He has a great chance for five at-bats against an extremely low-strikeout pitcher and one of the worst bullpens in baseball.

krayton: Ketel Marte – There are a lot of great Arizona guys that fit the top overall play, but Marte brings safety and upside. You can’t go wrong with any of the bats in the top of the order such as Varsho, Walker, or even Rojas, but Marte has a nice price tag on both sites.

TastefulTides: Christian Walker – There are plenty of premium spends today, but I know that I will be stacking Arizona. My lineups will start with Walker and work my way to guys like McCarthy and Varsho. Walker has immense power, and with the lack of strikeout upside from Urena and his high walk rate, Walker should have no problem producing big fantasy numbers.

drizzy26: Ketel Marte – This was tough, as I can make a case for Soto as well. But when you look at the match up that is presented and where they are playing at, it makes it easier to decide. Ketel gets to go against a pitcher in Urena who doesn’t strike out nearly anyone with an overall K% rate of 10.9% on the season. Granted, he doesn’t give up a lot of fly balls and has a high ground ball . I think going against an experienced player like Marte can get the job done today with the lowest contact rate from the pitches Urena throws at 72.3. I look for him and his team to have a great day in Coors.

What is your hot take of the day?

STLCardinals84: Byron Buxton hits for the cycle.

eys819: Houston puts up 12 runs and outscores both teams in Coors combined.

krayton: Jacob deGrom and Corbin Burnes both get 12 strikeouts today.

TastefulTides: Daulton Varsho goes for over 20 DK points.

drizzy26: Both deGrom and Burnes throw no-hitters.
