How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

STLCardinals84: Your lineups will look a lot different with bats today depending on what site you play on. FD is including the Coors game, while DK is not. I like getting exposure to under-owned offenses like the Cubs, Reds, and Cardinals today. I will also spread out my pool of pitchers with a lot of solid options on this slate and will look to differentiate from whichever pitchers end up as the chalk (outside of Javier, who I do like a lot) in GPP builds. There is not a lot separating the top arms here.

eys819: On FD, I will be overweight on Colorado with Arizona looking like the more popular side of Coors. I also want to spend up for Javier as much as possible, and I prefer the Cubs over the Reds when shopping for value bats. I will also mix in values from the White Sox and Marlins. On DK, Lance Lynn has a very attractive salary in a great matchup. The Dodgers project to be the most popular offense with Coors not available, and I like Houston and Atlanta as the pivots.

krayton: On FanDuel, we get the Coors game and I will definitely be taking an overweight stance on that game. I love both sides of the game. Last night I paired the Coors game with the great Dodgers values like Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and Joey Gallo. I will be looking to take advantage of the Dodgers value once again today. I also like using the Cubs bats as value pieces in order to fit in Coors as well. On DK, I will be looking to build around Cristian Javier and Lance Lynn and then using the Cubs and Reds as value over there. I will be going overweight on the Dodgers today but I also like including Atlanta and St. Louis in my GPP builds at low ownership.

TastefulTides: There are big differences between DK and FD today. Arizona is once again the best stack on the board on FD. Don’t forget about Colorado either. Coors hasn’t been great this series but hasn’t been a complete bust either. If you want to fade Coors or are playing on DK, then I would go with the Dodgers and the Cubs/Reds games for bats. The Reds are dirt cheap on DK and won’t have to do a ton to pay off those price tags. Depending on who is at the top of the lineup, they are my favorite stack for value. For pitching I will be rostering Lance Lynn or Cristian Javier on FanDuel. The prices are good and I want to get to Coors. On DK, Lynn’s price is so low I will have hard time passing up on him as my SP2. There are some good options at the top of the board for pitching, but I don’t think that the opportunity cost at pitching is so drastic that you have to double pay up.

drizzy26: This slate is similar to yesterday in my eyes from a stack perspective. I will be using only 4 man stacks on FanDuel, and I will be using 5 man stacks on DK. I love being overweight on the White Sox, Astros, Dodgers, Tampa Bay, and the top half of the Reds. I also really like 4 pitchers today mainly and will be heavy on Bassitt, as I want to attack that Phillies team without Schwarber in the lineup. But I love the other options of Javier, Lynn, and Wheeler today as well. I also don’t mind taking a few shots on Gausman and Bieber who are in very tough matchups today.

Who is your top overall pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

STLCardinals84: Cristian Javier – A lot of the top pitchers this afternoon draw tough matchups. That is not the case for Javier, who gets to face an abysmal Oakland lineup. Javier has a 2.71 xERA and a sneaky elite 32.5% strikeout rate for the season. He will likely be the most popular high-end pitcher, but he is the one chalky option that I will play in my multi-entry GPP builds.

eys819: Cristian Javier – He leads the slate with a 32.5% strikeout rate and gets a fantastic matchup against Oakland. He is underpriced on DK , and while he is more appropriately priced on FD, he is still a priority spend up there. Oakland ranks second to last with an 81 wRC+ and .275 wOBA, and they strike out at a 23.4% rate. The walk rate and the leash are always concerns for Javier, but the matchup today should limit the risk.

krayton: Cristian Javier – Javier gets the best matchup on the slate today going against Oakland, who we have been picking on all year. His strikeout rate is 33% which is the highest on the slate. There are a number of good pitchers on the slate, but they are all in fairly tough matchups. I will take the safety and upside of Javier and he will be a core pitcher for me today.

TastefulTides: Cristian Javier – I will be pairing Javier and Lynn on DK and will have to wait and see what there is for value as lineups come out throughout the day to determine exactly what I am doing on FanDuel. If I can get some value that I feel good about, then Javier is my first choice for FanDuel. The two worst teams against right handed pitching are the A’s and Tigers. Javier should have no issue getting the win and quality start and is projected for almost seven strikeouts. He leads the slate with strikeout rate and has a tremendous amount of safety built in.

drizzy26: Cristian Javier – He’s my top overall option simply because he has some strikeout upside, even though he does give up ground balls at 26.3% and fly balls at 54.7%. But the matchup against Oakland is just too good with them having a projected strikeout rate of 20.6% as a whole. So to me with a lot of the other good pitchers in tough matchups, I’ll ride with the guy in one of the best matchups on the board and see what can come from it.

Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

STLCardinals84: This depends on the site for sure. On FD, I’ll go with C.J. Cron given his power profile against a mediocre left-handed pitcher. While his splits have been weaker against lefties this year, he still owns a career .357 wOBA and .241 ISO in home games against lefties. On DK, it’s a really tough slate for bats. On a points per dollar basis, I like the Cubs power hitters against Dunn today, so give me Ian Happ at a very manageable price tag.

eys819: Ian Happ – On FD, you could go with a number of bats in Coors, but Happ has an extremely attractive $2.9k price tag. On DK, Coors is not available and Happ still grades out as a top value despite his $4.2k salary. He gets a great matchup against Dunn and a terrible Reds bullpen in one of the best hitters parks in baseball.

krayton: On DK, Ian Happ projects very well going up against Justin Dunn. The Cubs are priced reasonably and Happ and Contreras both make great plays today. Dunn just does not strike anyone out and he has the lowest K rate on the slate at 9% along with a 9% walk rate. On FanDuel, we get the Coors game, so I am going with C.J. Cron against the lefty Tommy Henry. Cron has historically been great against left-handed pitching, making him one of my top overall plays on the slate today.

TastefulTides: On FanDuel, it is Daulton Varsho for me. He has a really solid floor with a good chance for a ceiling performance. I also like to get to C.J. Cron as well. A Coors game stack is a really good strategy today. On DK I like Mookie Betts. My first thought on this slate for DK is to stack the Dodgers with the cheap Reds. The salary for Lance Lynn on DK allows you to pay up for a high end stack. If you don’t like the Dodgers, I also like the Astros and Rays for larger field contests.

drizzy26: Freddie Freeman – I’m looking into the numbers for Freeman against the main pitches that Singer throws, and it puts him in a fantastic spot. Singer also might strike out both sides of the plate at a good percentage, but the fly balls and hard contact to lefties is what stands out to me from looking at PlateIQ. Singer also gives up an ISO of .171 to lefties, so that sets up well for Freeman. And with the weather being good for hitting, I look for him to be a major reason today why the Dodgers win their 13th straight.

What is your hot take of the day?

STLCardinals84: Ian Happ, Willson Contreras, and Patrick Wisdom all hit home runs for the Cubs.

eys819: The Cubs and Reds combine for 18+ runs today.

krayton: The Dodgers score the most runs on the slate with Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger and Freddie Freeman all hitting home runs today.

TastefulTides: Randy Arozarena hits a homer and steals a base.

drizzy26: A White Sox and Cubs stack win all the money today.
