Clayton Kershaw (FD: $11800, DK: $10700)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 65 — SIERA: 2.41 — K Rate: 31.0% — K/9: 11.43 — BB Rate: 6.0% — FB Rate: 21.1% — HR/FB: 17.6%
2014: IP: 198 — SIERA: 2.09 — K Rate: 31.9% — K/9: 10.85 — BB Rate: 4.1% — FB Rate: 29.2% — HR/FB: 6.6%
Colorado Rockies vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.294 (Rank: 24) — Strikeout Rate: 25.6% (Rank: 30) — wRC+: 70 (Rank: 27)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.76 (Rank: 18)
Analysis: The big question that looms over tonight’s slate of games is whether Clayton Kershaw is in play tonight. The short answer is yes, even though it breaks our cardinal rule of avoiding all pitchers in Coors Field. Kershaw has a very high ground-ball rate (which helps in this park). In the last three seasons, Kershaw has made six starts in Coors Field, posting a 3.05 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 41 innings of work. The upside is still there, but Kershaw may give up a couple of runs in the process. Dollar for dollar, there are obviously better plays tonight, but Kershaw should still be considered one of the top overall pitching options.
Pitcher Rating:89.1
Kyle Kendrick (FD: $5600, DK: $4300)
Pitching Stats:

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.353 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 19.8% (Rank: 13) — wRC+: 127 (Rank: 1)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.91 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: We go from one of the best starters in baseball to one of the worst. Kendrick owns a 5.06 SIERA this season with a K/9 of 4.6. He’s pitching in the best hitter’s park in baseball and he’s facing a Dodgers’ offense that is ranked 1st in wOBA (.353) and wRC+ (127) against right-handed pitching. Load up on the Dodgers’ bats in this one.

Analysis: The Dodgers have by far the best matchup on the board tonight. They get to face Kyle Kendrick in the hitter’s paradise that is Coors Field. A Dodgers’ stack is in play in both cash games and tournaments tonight. Gonzalez is the featured play here, as he has been outstanding against right-handed pitching this season, posting a .443 wOBA and a .284 ISO.

Alex Wood (FD: $7700, DK: $8200)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 54 — SIERA: 4.16 — K Rate: 16.5% — K/9: 6.33 — BB Rate: 7.8% — FB Rate: 27.8% — HR/FB: 4.3%
2014: IP: 171 — SIERA: 3.16 — K Rate: 24.5% — K/9: 8.91 — BB Rate: 6.5% — FB Rate: 34.6% — HR/FB: 10.0%
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.332 (Rank: 7) — Strikeout Rate: 18.5% (Rank: 10) — wRC+: 106 (Rank: 13)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.65 (Rank: 29)
Analysis: After a slow start to the season, Wood has pitched well in each of his last two starts. His numbers this year aren’t terrible, but he has an average SIERA of 4.16 with a below-average K/9 of 6.3. He is overpriced for his matchup tonight against the Diamondbacks, who are ranked 7th in wOBA (.332) and 10th in strikeout rate (18.5%) against left-handed pitching this season. There are better pitching options in Wood’s price range tonight.
Pitcher Rating:58.3
Archie Bradley (FD: $6200, DK: $5100)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 30 — SIERA: 5.02 — K Rate: 16.2% — K/9: 6.46 — BB Rate: 14.0% — FB Rate: 28.3% — HR/FB: 7.7%
Atlanta Braves vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.306 (Rank: 18) — Strikeout Rate: 16.9% (Rank: 3) — wRC+: 92 (Rank: 18)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.76 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Bradley has given up at least four earned runs in each of his last four starts. While hot and cold streaks for hitters can often be attributed to randomness, the same can’t be said for pitchers. We want to target pitchers that are in good form, and that’s not the case with Bradley. He has a low strikeout rate, a high walk rate, and a bad matchup against the Braves. Atlanta strikes out at the third-lowest rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season.

Freddie Freeman (FD: $3200, DK: $4300)
Position Eligibility: FD: 1B — DK: 1B

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 708 — wOBA: 0.388 — ISO: 0.188 — wRC+: 150
Analysis: Freeman’s price has been this cheap for a while, but he hasn’t had a favorable enough matchup. Tonight is a great opportunity to target Freeman at his discounted price point. He sees a positive ballpark shift playing in Chase Field and he draws a favorable matchup against the rookie Archie Bradley, who has really struggled in his last three starts.
Secondary Plays:
Jace Peterson (FD: $2300, DK: $3400)

2014 vs. LH Pitching: PA: 479 — wOBA: 0.470 — ISO: 0.205 — wRC+: 201
Analysis: Anytime the Diamondbacks are facing a left-handed pitcher, Goldschmidt should be on your radar in daily fantasy. He has crushed left-handed pitching throughout his career, and this season is no different. He has a .476 wOBA and a .333 ISO against southpaws. He draws a decent matchup against Alex Wood, who has given up a .350 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season.

wOBA: 0.288 (Rank: 28) — Strikeout Rate: 19.9% (Rank: 15) — wRC+: 87 (Rank: 25)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.75 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Colome has been a very difficult pitcher to predict this season. While he owns a 3.74 SIERA, he doesn’t pitch very deep into games. He has only thrown more than 90 pitches twice this season. He’s a risky fantasy option tonight, even in a favorable matchup against the Angels. He can safely be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:45.3
Garrett Richards (FD: $8800, DK: $9500)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 52 — SIERA: 4.09 — K Rate: 19.9% — K/9: 7.44 — BB Rate: 9.7% — FB Rate: 34.0% — HR/FB: 6.0%

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.87 (Rank: 7)
Analysis: Richards has yet to have that dominant outing this season, but it’s coming. It very well could come tonight against a Rays’ offense that is ranked 23rd in wOBA (.295) and 21st in strikeout rate (20.8%) against right-handed pitching this season. Richards velocity is back and he’s producing a swinging strike rate (10.9%) that is identical to last season. He’s a large favorite at home tonight and a strong play in all league formats.

Analysis: Mike Trout is in play every night, but he’s priced over $5,000 on both FanDuel and DraftKings. If you are looking to target an Angels’ hitter tonight, Calhoun is the preferred play. He’s considerably cheaper than Trout and he actually has the better matchup of the two. Since the start of 2014, Alex Colome has given up a .324 wOBA to left-handed hitters.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.81 (Rank: 11)
Analysis: Without one clear pitcher to target tonight, there should be a good variety in both cash games and tournaments. One of the top pitching options to take the mound is deGrom. He has really pitched well this season with a 3.14 SIERA and K/9 of 9.0. He has cut down on his walks and he draws one of the best matchups on the board. He gets to play in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park and he gets to face a Padres’ offense that is ranked 25th in wOBA (.293) and 24th in strikeout rate (21.5%) against right-handed pitching this season.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.82 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: This is one of those games that could end up being 2-1 or 1-0. We have two great pitchers on the mound, two underachieving offenses, and the game will be played in the best pitcher’s park in baseball. That’s not a great recipe for run production. Cashner has pitched well this season with a 3.37 SIERA and a K/9 of 8.6. He also draws a favorable matchup tonight, as the Mets are ranked 29th in wOBA (.286) and 15th in strikeout rate (19.9%) against right-handed pitching this season.

Analysis: Even though Pineda is having an outstanding season, he is one of the biggest underdogs on the board tonight. It says less about Pineda, as it does about his opponent, Felix Hernandez. Given the fact that he’s such a big underdog, he should be limited as a tournament play. He has a decent matchup though and he is facing his former team, so there is a little added motivation to pitch well tonight.

Analysis: The debate as to which ace is in a better spot tonight is a good one. Clayton Kershaw is still the best pitcher in baseball, but he has to pitch in Coors Field. Luckily, the Rockies have not hit left-handed pitching well. On the other hand, Felix Hernandez is pitching at home, but he has a tougher matchup, as the Yankees are ranked tenth or better in wOBA, strikeout rate, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching. It’s possible that they both pitch well tonight, which would make this debate pointless. At the end of the day, I’ll give the tiebreaker to the better pitcher’s park.
