Pitcher Grind Down
Tyson Ross (FD: $8300, DK: $9100)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.66 — K Rate: 28.9% — K/9: 12.04 — BB Rate: 14.1% — GB Rate: 55.6%
2014: SIERA: 3.21 — K Rate: 24.0% — K/9: 8.97 — BB Rate: 8.9% — GB Rate: 57.0%
San Francisco Giants vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.299 (Rank: 19)
Strikeout Rate: 18.2% (Rank: 7)
Analysis: Ross hasn’t been quite as sharp as he was in 2014, but the strikeouts have certainly been there. Ross owns a K/9 of 12.0 this season. He does struggle with his command at times though, walking 14% of the batters that he has faced. With Madison Bumgarner pitching opposite him, Ross is nothing more than a deep tournament play tonight.
Pitcher Rating:68.8
Madison Bumgarner (FD: $9800, DK: $10400)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.63 — K Rate: 19.7% — K/9: 7.47 — BB Rate: 3.8% — GB Rate: 39.6%
2014: SIERA: 2.98 — K Rate: 25.1% — K/9: 9.07 — BB Rate: 4.9% — GB Rate: 44.4%
San Diego Padres vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.345 (Rank: 4)
Strikeout Rate: 21.1% (Rank: 18)
Analysis: Bumgarner is off to a slow start this season, but we saw that happen last year as well. He typically goes through a few lulls before turning it on and becoming one of the best pitchers in baseball. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not pitching bad by any means, but a 3.63 SIERA and a K/9 of 7.5 are mediocre by his standards. With Clayton Kershaw on the mound, Bumgarner is in the same position as Felix Hernandez. He makes a better tournament play than a pitcher to target in cash games.
Pitcher Rating:84.8
