Pitcher Grind Down
- Rubby De La Rosa – De la Rosa has been a bit up and down this year. He has a 3.43 ERA and 1.31 WHIP after 10 starts this year. He has a very low 5.97 K/9, which really depresses his fantasy value today. Due to this and the matchup, you can avoid De La Rosa today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6400 FD, $11200 DD, $5800 DK, $49800 FF, $16300 SS, $NA FTD
- Hector Santiago – Santiago will be making another start for the Angels today and has been pitching decent on the year (3.84 ERA), but has some major red flags. He has not pitched more than 6 innings since April and that alone takes away a lot of his fantasy appeal today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5600 FD, $11200 DD, $6200 DK, $75000 FF, $15200 SS, $11200 FTD

Boston
Yoenis Cespedes – I have yet to play Cespedes since the trade to Boston and it has not hurt me fantasy wise yet. That may change today against Santiago who Cespedes is 4/8 with 2 home runs against.
Additional Plays: Mike Napoli Dustin Pedroia
LA Angels
Kole Calhoun – I really want to continue to play Calhoun and even though he does have 4 hits in his last 2 games I have been a bit disappointed by him. I think he gets it going big time today against De La Rosa who allows lefties a wOBA of .355 on the year.
Additional Plays: Erick Aybar Josh Hamilton Mike Trout

Pitcher Grind Down
- Phil Hughes – Hughes has bounced back a bit from that terrible stretch in June and mid-July. He continues to walk very few batters, but a big problem I have seen with him is the Twins have him on a very short leash. He has not seen the 100 pitch mark in any of his last 6 starts and now has to face a very potent and patient A’s squad. Hammel is the same price at most sites and is a far better option than Hughes. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7400 FD, $13000 DD, $7600 DK, $81300 FF, $22200 SS, $13000 FTD
- Jason Hammel – Hammel finally came through in his last start after really struggling in his first four since getting traded to the A’s. I think he takes the momentum into this matchup against the Twins who have been struggling recently. He is a big favorite in a game with a low total and is cheap due to his recent struggles. Hammel is my favorite mid-level option today. Rating = 7
Salaries: $6500 FD, $12400 DD, $7300 DK, $79500 FF, $20600 SS, $12400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Minnesota
I think Hammel pitches great today and will be avoiding the Twins bats.
Oakland
Josh Donaldson – I like the RH bats today as Hughes has had very reverse-splits this year. He has allowed RH batters a .321 AVG as oppose to lefties that he has allowed a .249 AVG to.
Additional Plays: Coco Crisp

Pitcher Grind Down
- Franklin Morales – Morales has been very poor this year and has been real bad away from Coors. In 12 away appearances, Morales has a 6.00 ERA and has allowed 13 home runs in 50 innings. He now has to go into Chase Field, against a depleted Dbacks offense. They were able to muster up 14 runs yesterday and look to be in position to put up some runs again today. Avoid Morales in all formats. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5200 FD, $9850 DD, $6200 DK, $48200 FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Wade Miley – Just when some people were starting to trust Miley, he gets hit for 5 earned runs against the Phillies and got smashed for 10 earned runs to the Royals in his last start. With that said, he had been pitching better in the month of July (2.45 ERA) and has a decent matchup today against the Rockies. He is a GPP play today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6700 FD, $13850 DD, $8000 DK, $71800 FF, $23200 SS, $13850 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Colorado
Nolan Arenado – Arenado makes a great target today as he has crushed LH pitching for a wOBA of .389 on the season. He has really stepped his game up recently and has 2 home runs in the last week.
Additional Plays: Josh Rutledge Drew Stubbs
Arizona
Mark Trumbo – Trumbo is really trying to pick up the slack since Goldy went down. He is hitting .400 + over the last week and has a great matchup against Morales who allows righties to hit a .305 AVG and a .538 SLG against him.
Additional Plays: Cliff Pennington Aaron Hill

Pitcher Grind Down
- John Danks – Danks has really struggled recently for the Sox. He has allowed 24 earned runs combined in his last 4 starts and is a big underdog today. The matchup looks good on paper as the majority of Seattles good bats are lefties, but Danks is still an avoid for me. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6000 FD, $11300 DD, $5800 DK, $50700 FF, $14500 SS, $11300 FTD
- Erasmo Ramirez – Erasmo is getting called up to make his 13th start of the season. As a starter, Ramirez has struggled with a 4.35 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. He has also allowed 10 home runs in those 12 starts. He is tough to trust today in any format. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5900 FD, $10600 DD, $6600 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – Abreu is always consistent and has continued to get a few base hits a game. Yet, he has disappointed as he has not gone deep in his last 11 games. I think he gets one today against Erasmo.
Additional Plays: Alexei Ramirez Dayan Viciedo
Seattle
Austin Jackson – Jackson gets to hit leadoff for his new squad today and has a great matchup against Danks. Jackson has seen him a lot in his time in Detroit and is 18/45 with 3 home runs off of him.
Additional Plays: Robinson Cano

Pitcher Grind Down
- Gio Gonzalez – Gio has not looked great recently. He has lost his Ace like stuff as he has allowed 9 earned runs in his last 2 starts. He now gets a good matchup against a Braves squad that strikes out at a 23.1% clip against LH pitching. Gio has struggled agianst this Braves squad in the last few seasons and I think if you are paying for him you can spend a few more bucks and get Cueto in a better spot. *Rating = 7 *
Salaries: $8800 FD, $15800 DD, $9500 DK, $67400 FF, $26000 SS, $NA FTD
- Alex Wood – Wood disappointed all of us when he get hit hard against the Padres in a great matchup. He has more or less pitched very well for the majority of the season and has a 3.20 ERA to show for it. He is in a good spot today, but the Nationals bats it LH pitching well which scares me off of Wood a bit. He makes a decent option today. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7700 FD, $15000 DD, $7000 DK, $99200 FF, $21500 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Washington
Anthony Rendon – I love taking Rendon against LH pitchers and he has a decent matchup against Wood today. He is 7/9 with 1 home run in his early career against Wood.
Additional Plays: Jayson Werth
Atlanta
Justin Upton – Upton has taken Gio deep 2 times in 14 career at bats. His price is depressed a bit due to recent struggles and I think he makes a good GPP play today.
Additional Plays: Freddie Freeman
