Pitcher Grind Down
Dan Haren (FD: $7800, DK: $7400)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.30 — K Rate: 18.4% — K/9: 6.3 — BB Rate: 7.0% — GB Rate: 34.5%
2014: SIERA: 3.74 — K Rate: 18.7% — K/9: 7.02 — BB Rate: 4.6% — GB Rate: 41.5%
San Francisco Giants vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.310 (Rank: 12)
Strikeout Rate: 17.5% (Rank: 7)
Analysis: Haren is having a mediocre season thus far, posting a 4.30 SIERA with a K/9 of 6.3. He’s typically not a pitcher that walks a lot of batters, which is good. However, he does give up a lot of home runs. That shouldn’t be a huge issue tonight in AT&T Park, which is one of the toughest parks to hit home runs in, but it’s always a concern with Haren. He’s a little overpriced for his matchup against the Giants, who are ranked 12th in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:52.2
Tim Hudson (FD: $6800, DK: $6700)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.31 — K Rate: 11.9% — K/9: 4.32 — BB Rate: 6.7% — GB Rate: 57.3%
2014: SIERA: 3.66 — K Rate: 15.2% — K/9: 5.70 — BB Rate: 4.3% — GB Rate: 53.1%
Miami Marlins vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.301 (Rank: 17)
Strikeout Rate: 21.7% (Rank: 23)
Analysis: Hudson is coming off of a strong outing against the Angels, but he has only struck out more than four batters one time this season. His strikeout rate continues to dip as he gets up there in age. Even though he is a favorite in a game that features a low total of 7.0 runs, he’s not a great fantasy option tonight. He could be worth a look as an SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.
Pitcher Rating:64.6
Batter Grind Down
Miami
Dee Gordon (FD: $3800, DK: $4700)
Position Eligibility: FD: 2B — DK: 2B
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.418 — ISO: 0.066 — OBP: 0.464
2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.310 — ISO: 0.090 — OBP: 0.322
Analysis: Gordon just continues to rack up the hits. He’s batting .430 on the season with a .455 OBP. That’s exactly what we like to see from speedy players at the top of the order. He has already stolen 12 bases this season and he’s a threat to steal another one tonight against Tim Hudson and the Giants.
Secondary Plays:
Giancarlo Stanton (FD: $4700, DK: $4900)
Position Eligibility: FD: OF — DK: OF
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.376 — ISO: 0.277 — OBP: 0.347
2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.391 — ISO: 0.262 — OBP: 0.382
San Francisco
Buster Posey (FD: $3500, DK: $4200)
Position Eligibility: FD: C — DK: 1B/C
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.348 — ISO: 0.127 — OBP: 0.370
2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.366 — ISO: 0.164 — OBP: 0.366
Analysis: Dan Haren is a reverse-splits pitcher that gives up a lot of home runs. Cue up Buster Posey as one of the top catching options on the board tonight. Posey has a .348 wOBA against right handed pitching this season, while Haren gave up a .333 wOBA to right-handed hitters in 2014.
Secondary Plays:
Brandon Belt (FD: $2900, DK: $4100)
