Jeff Samardzija (FD: $9000, DK: $8700)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 68 — SIERA: 3.87 — K Rate: 18.7% — K/9: 7.15 — BB Rate: 4.5% — FB Rate: 37.1% — HR/FB: 8.9%

Texas Rangers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.306 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 20.7% (Rank: 21) — wRC+: 89 (Rank: 22)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.80 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: Samardijza is a solid pitcher that finds himself in a difficult matchup tonight. On the season, he owns a 3.87 SIERA with a K/9 of 7.2. Tonight he heads to Globe Life Park in Arlington to take on a surging Rangers’ offense. Samardzija could pitch well here, but he’s overpriced for his matchup. He is a borderline tournament play at best tonight.
Pitcher Rating:69.4
Colby Lewis (FD: $6000, DK: $6600)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 59 — SIERA: 4.19 — K Rate: 18.6% — K/9: 6.98 — BB Rate: 6.1% — FB Rate: 46.2% — HR/FB: 7.1%
2014: IP: 170 — SIERA: 4.22 — K Rate: 17.5% — K/9: 7.03 — BB Rate: 6.3% — FB Rate: 44.2% — HR/FB: 10.1%
Chicago White Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.302 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 19.2% (Rank: 10) — wRC+: 89 (Rank: 22)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.70 (Rank: 28)
Analysis: Colby Lewis has given up 19 earned runs in his last three outings. He still owns a 4.19 SIERA on the season, but he has terrible form coming into tonight’s start against the White Sox. We can safely avoid Lewis until he can prove that he can string together a few quality outings in a row.

Analysis: There are a few viable min-salary plays in the outfield tonight on FanDuel, but Cabrera is my favorite of the bunch. He draws a favorable matchup against Colby Lewis, who has given up a .374 wOBA to left-handed hitters since the start of 2014. Cabrera also sees a positive park shift playing in Globe Life Park.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.79 (Rank: 15)
Analysis: After two straight starts without giving up a single run, Wright gave up three runs in his last start against the White Sox. He has an intriguing matchup tonight against the Astros, who have the 2nd-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Wright is an interesting tournament play tonight on DraftKings at a bargain-bin price of only $4,800.
Pitcher Rating:52.1
Collin McHugh (FD: $8400, DK: $7800)
Pitching Stats:

wOBA: 0.315 (Rank: 13) — Strikeout Rate: 22.6% (Rank: 27) — wRC+: 99 (Rank: 12)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.76 (Rank: 20)
Analysis: Sites have been very slow to adjust the salaries of pitchers this season. McHugh has pitched better than almost every pitcher in his price range. We have another opportunity to buy low on McHugh tonight. He has a 3.53 SIERA on the season with a K/9 of 7.4. He draws a fairly favorable matchup against the Orioles, who are ranked 13th in wOBA (.315) and 27th in strikeout rate (22.6%) against right-handed pitching this season.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.64 (Rank: 29)
Analysis: Carrasco is always one of my favorite pitchers to see on the schedule. His ERA is much higher than his SIERA is this season, which keeps his price at a very playable level on both FanDuel and DraftKings. He owns a 2.77 SIERA this season with an impressive K/9 of 10.4. I’m usually willing to back Carrasco in tough matchups, but not against the Royals. They are ranked 7th or better in wOBA, strikeout rate, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:73.3
Jeremy Guthrie (FD: $5700, DK: $4800)
Pitching Stats:

wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 10) — Strikeout Rate: 18.0% (Rank: 6) — wRC+: 107 (Rank: 4)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.93 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Guthrie may be my least favorite pitcher to take the mound tonight (outside of Coors Field). He has been awful this season with a 5.51 SIERA and a K/9 of 3.54. It’s never a good sign when you SIERA is higher than your K/9. He has always struggled against left-handed hitters and the Indians’ lineup is chock full of them. Guthrie should be avoided in all league formats tonight.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 555 — wOBA: 0.318 — ISO: 0.117 — wRC+: 106
Analysis: Kipnis has just about everything that you could ever want to see in his favor tonight. He is swinging a hot bat, he has a .462 wOBA against right-handed pitching, he is facing a pitcher that struggles against left-handed hitters, and he has a great track record against the pitcher that he is facing. In his career, Kipnis is 11-for-22 with two home runs and three doubles against Jeremy Guthrie. Don’t be afraid to stack the left-handed hitters in this lineup tonight.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.75 (Rank: 21)
Analysis: Cravy will be making his major league debut tonight against the Cardinals. He pitched well in the minors last season with a 3.54 FIP with a K/9 of 7.8 at the Double-A level. I always like to take a wait and see approach with these young pitchers and that’s exactly what I will be doing tonight. The Cardinals are a very tough matchup, ranking 7th or better in wOBA, strikeout rate, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season.

Analysis: Lynn is one of the top pitching options on the board tonight. He has pitched well this season with a 3.41 SIERA and a K/9 of 9.9. He still walks a few too many batters, but his 25.8% strikeout rate more than makes up for it. He draws a favorable matchup against the Brewers, who are ranked 23rd in wOBA (.295) and 25th in strikeout rate (21.8%) against right-handed pitching. Lynn is also one of the biggest favorites on the board, as the Brewers have a rookie pitcher on the mound.

Analysis: It’s always hard to predict how these major league debuts for pitchers are going to go. Analysis: If this game was being played in any other ballpark, Greinke would be in play tonight. Unfortunately, he has to make a start in the hitter’s paradise that is Coors Field. Analysis: Hale has only pitched six innings this season. In 2014, he posted a mediocre SIERA of 4.58 with a low K/9 of 4.5. He is one of the biggest underdogs on the board and the total for the game is set at 10.0 runs. Analysis: A matchup against Zack Greinke is not ideal, but I actually like the Rockies’ offense quite a bit tonight. They still have one of the highest team totals on the board and we all know how big the Coors Field effect can be on pitching. Blackmon has a .386 wOBA and a .203 ISO against right-handed pitching this season and he’s still very affordable on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
