Trevor Bauer (FD: $8100, DK: $6800)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.90 — K Rate: 25.1% — K/9: 9.5 — BB Rate: 10.9% — FB Rate: 42.6% — HR/FB: 6.5%
2014: SIERA: 3.95 — K Rate: 21.6% — K/9: 8.41 — BB Rate: 9.1% — FB Rate: 41.3% — HR/FB: 8.7%
Chicago White Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.316 (Rank: 14)
Strikeout Rate: 18.5% (Rank: 8)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.71 (Rank: 26)
Analysis: After a strong start to the season, Bauer has given up 12 earned runs in his last three starts. He is coming off of a strong outing against the Cardinals though, striking out ten batters in seven innings of work. The strikeout potential is always there with Bauer, but so is the risk. He walks a lot of batters and gives up a fairly high fly-ball rate. He draws a mediocre matchup tonight against the White Sox in Chicago. Bauer is in play on DraftKings ($6,800), but he can be avoided on FanDuel ($8,100).
Pitcher Rating:56.3
Jose Quintana (FD: $7600, DK: $8200)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.46 — K Rate: 22.8% — K/9: 8.56 — BB Rate: 5.9% — FB Rate: 33.6% — HR/FB: 7.5%
2014: SIERA: 3.50 — K Rate: 21.5% — K/9: 8.00 — BB Rate: 6.3% — FB Rate: 33.2% — HR/FB: 5.1%
Cleveland Indians vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.322 (Rank: 16)
Strikeout Rate: 16.1% (Rank: 2)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.92 (Rank: 4)
Analysis: After giving up nine runs to the Tigers, Quintana has bounced back with four strong starts in a row. He is coming off of his best outing of the season, striking out ten batters in seven innings of work against the Brewers. Tonight he faces an Indians’ offense that is producing at a higher level than we would expect against left-handed pitching. Cleveland’s left-handed hitters do hit left-handed pitching well, but that’s still not a great matchup. Quintana makes for a strong play in tournaments and as an SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.

Analysis: Abreu is still extremely cheap on FanDuel. He has yet to have that huge two-home run outing that we have all been waiting for, but it’s coming soon. He has a .391 wOBA and a .216 ISO against right-handed pitching this season. Kansas City Royals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.331 (Rank: 3)
Strikeout Rate: 15.5% (Rank: 1)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.62 (Rank: 30)
Analysis: We have seen this situation time and time again this season. An ace pitcher facing arguably the worst pitching matchup on the board in the Royals. A couple of aces have had success in this situation, but the Royals are still sporting a winning record against top pitching. Cueto is about as dominant as any pitcher in baseball, but unfortunately, the matchup takes him out of consideration in cash games. Target Cueto as a tournament option tonight against the Royals, who are ranked 3rd in wOBA (.331) and 1st in strikeout rate (15.5%) against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:73.4
Yordano Ventura (FD: $7900, DK: $6600)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.14 — K Rate: 17.7% — K/9: 6.69 — BB Rate: 8.8% — FB Rate: 25.4% — HR/FB: 19.4%

Cincinnati Reds vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.308 (Rank: 18)
Strikeout Rate: 20.0% (Rank: 16)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.74 (Rank: 23)
Analysis: Ventura has given up at least four earned runs in each of his last three starts. He has been a very average pitcher this season, posting a 4.14 SIERA and a K/9 of 6.7. He has walked 8.8% of the batters that he has faced. His HR/FB rate of 19.4% is unsustainable and should come back down closer to the league average of 10% as the season progresses. He draws a decent matchup against the Reds, but run support could be limited with Johnny Cueto on the mound. All in all, he’s not a pitcher that will find himself on many of my lineups tonight.

Analysis: Howard ALMOST hit a home run last night, but had to settle with two singles and an RBI. He is riding a five-game hitting streak where he has racked up nine hits, three of which went for extra bases. He has been much better over the last couple of weeks and he now has a respectable .364 wOBA against right-handed pitching. wOBA: 0.306 (Rank: 20)
Strikeout Rate: 21.0% (Rank: 21)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.85 (Rank: 9)
Analysis: We go from the best hitter’s park in baseball to the best pitcher’s park in baseball. The total for this game is set at 6.5 runs, which puts both pitchers in play. Hammel is one of the best pitchers in baseball that isn’t a household name. He has a 3.31 SIERA on the season with a K/9 of 8.0. He rarely walks batters and he’s able to pitch deep into games. He draws a favorable matchup against the Padres, who are ranked 20th in wOBA (.306) against right-handed pitching. The only concern here is run support, which is why he’s a better play on DraftKings than he is on FanDuel, where the win is more important.

wOBA: 0.309 (Rank: 17)
Strikeout Rate: 25.4% (Rank: 30)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 4.00 (Rank: 1)
Analysis: Shields has been outstanding to start the season. He currently owns a 2.81 SIERA with a K/9 of 11.9. He has really enjoyed the move to the National League and he has to love that half of his starts come in the pitcher-friendly Petco Park. Shields has great strikeout potential tonight against the Cubs, who have the highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching of any team in baseball this season. The Cubs do make pitchers work though, as they are ranked 1st in pitches per plate appearance. Shields may not last eight innings, but he should be able to give us six or seven very strong innings of work.

wOBA: 0.324 (Rank: 6)
Strikeout Rate: 17.4% (Rank: 5)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.76 (Rank: 20)
Analysis: Frias is a pitcher that benefits from 1. playing in the National League and 2. playing for the Dodgers. He’s almost always a favorite when he takes the mound and he’s typically one of the cheapest pitching options on the board. He owns a 3.02 SIERA on the season with a K/9 of 7.7. The biggest concern with Frias has been his inability to pitch deep into games, but he’s coming off of a season-high 97 pitch outing against Marlins. The matchup against the Giants isn’t ideal, but he makes a strong SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.

Analysis: Hudson can still get outs at his age, but he’s getting less by the way of the strikeout these days. On the season, he has a 4.18 SIERA and a low K/9 of 4.6. His HR/FB rate of 25.8% is a bit absurd and is unsustainable, but it would take a near perfect outing for him to get the win tonight. The Dodgers are ranked 1st in wOBA (.367) against right-handed pitching this season. Give the edge to Carlos Frias in this pitching matchup, as he has a higher strikeout potential.

2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.437 — ISO: 0.228 — wRC+: 183
2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.335 — ISO: 0.240 — wRC+: 120
Analysis: Belt has to wish that the Giants could stay in Cincinnati for another series or two. In the final three games of the series against the Reds, Belt was 9-for-14 with three home runs, two doubles, seven RBIs, and eight runs. Now that’s a nice three-game stretch if I’ve ever seen one. He has a .437 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season and he draws a favorable matchup against Carlos Frias, who has given up a .377 wOBA to left-handed hitters.
