Pitching Stats:

Milwaukee Brewers vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.277 (Rank: 28)
Strikeout Rate: 25.1% (Rank: 29)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.75 (Rank: 22)
Analysis: Mad Bum takes the mound for the Giants tonight, after another stellar outing against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers. Bumgarner is 3-0 against L.A. this season and he helped on the offensive end in their last meeting, hitting a solo home run off of Kershaw. Bumgarner will not set his sights on the Brewers, who are ranked 28th in wOBA (.277) and 29th in strikeout rate (25.1%) against left-handed pitching this season. The matchup is as good as any on the board tonight, although Miller Park is typically more friendly to hitters than pitchers.
Pitcher Rating:85.4
Matt Garza (FD: $6500, DK: $6200)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 52 — SIERA: 4.67 — K Rate: 16.4% — K/9: 6.58 — BB Rate: 10.3% — FB Rate: 29.7% — HR/FB: 16.3%

San Francisco Giants vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.323 (Rank: 7)
Strikeout Rate: 17.0% (Rank: 4)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.71 (Rank: 26)
Analysis: Garza has been a serviceable starter for the Brewers this season, posting a 4.67 SIERA with a K/9 of 6.6. He has struggled with his command, walking 10.3% of the batters that he has faced. He can safely be avoided tonight against a Giants offense that is ranked seventh in wOBA (.323) and fourth in strikeout rate (17.0%) against left-handed pitching this season.

Analysis: Pence has been terrific since returning from his injury, posting a .418 wOBA and a .217 ISO against right-handed pitching. He is correctly priced on DraftKings, but he’s still too cheap ($3,000) on FanDuel. He draws a decent matchup tonight against Matt Garza in the hitter-friendly Miller Park.

Archie Bradley (FD: $6600, DK: $5000)
Pitching Stats:

wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 9)
Strikeout Rate: 19.0% (Rank: 7)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.71 (Rank: 25)
Analysis: After a stellar start to the season, Bradley has been knocked around a bit since. He owns a 4.98 SIERA with a K/9 of 6.3 on the year. He’s a sizable underdog tonight against the Cardinals, who are ranked ninth in wOBA (.320) and 7th in strikeout rate (19.0%) against right-handed pitching this season. Bradley can safely be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:34.4
Jaime Garcia (FD: $7000, DK: $7000)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 7 — SIERA: 6.64 — K Rate: 11.5% — K/9: 3.86 — BB Rate: 19.2% — FB Rate: 29.4% — HR/FB: 20.0%

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.330 (Rank: 8)
Strikeout Rate: 18.3% (Rank: 9)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.66 (Rank: 29)
Analysis: Garcia walked five batters in his first start of the season, but otherwise pitched pretty well. He only gave up two earned runs in seven innings of work. He an intriguing play tonight against the Diamondbacks. He should get plenty of run support with Archie Bradley on the mound and he could be a cheap source for a win. Garcia should have a very low level of ownership, making him an intriguing tournament play.

Paul Goldschmidt (FD: $5400, DK: $5300)

2014 vs. LH Pitching: PA: 479 — wOBA: 0.470 — ISO: 0.205 — wRC+: 201
Analysis: Goldschmidt is always in play when there is a left-handed pitcher on the mound. Since the start of 2014, Goldschmidt has posted a .485 wOBA and a .289 ISO against southpaws. The matchup against Jaime Garcia isn’t ideal, but Goldschmidt is about as matchup-proof as they come, especially against left-handed pitching.

Analysis: Wong is quietly having a terrific season. When we think about the best second base options in daily fantasy, Wong doesn’t even crack the list of top ten. He should though, especially now that he is batting at the top of the order. He has a .376 wOBA and a .169 ISO against right-handed pitching this season and he draws a favorable matchup tonight against Archie Bradley.

wOBA: 0.277 (Rank: 28)
Strikeout Rate: 19.9% (Rank: 15)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.73 (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Even if Mike Trout was out of the lineup tonight (which he won’t be), I still wouldn’t target Despaigne. He has really struggled this season with a 4.83 SIERA and a low K/9 of 4.1. His walk rate is nearly as high as his strikeout rate, which means he has to have a near perfect outing to pay off his salary. He can safely be avoided in all league formats tonight.
Pitcher Rating:32.0
Matt Shoemaker (FD: $8100, DK: $7300)
Pitching Stats:

San Diego Padres vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.298 (Rank: 22)
Strikeout Rate: 21.5% (Rank: 24)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.83 (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Shoemaker may be my favorite tournament play on the board tonight. Kershaw, Bumgarner, DeGrom, and Salazar will all draw attention tonight, which should leave Shoemaker with a percentage of ownership under 10%. If you take away the name and just look at the numbers, you would consider him an elite play tonight. He has a 3.61 SIERA, a K/9 of 8.5, a favorable matchup against the Padres, and he’s one of the biggest favorites on the board. He’s a terrific tournament play tonight and he’s worth a look as an SP2 on DraftKings at a bargain price of $7,300.

As usual, Trout is one of the top position players on the board.

Analysis: Price will be ace with the lowest level of ownership tonight. The A’s have not hit left-handed pitching well this season, but they don’t strike out often (seventh-lowest strikeout rate against southpaws). The A’s also make pitchers work for their outs, averaging the seventh-most pitches per plate appearance. Price could certainly pitch well tonight, but I’d rather target the other aces taking the mound.

wOBA: 0.332 (Rank: 2)

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.86 (Rank: 9)
Analysis: Chavez has pitched well this season with a 3.63 SIERA and a K/9 of 8.5. His fantasy appeal hinges on whether or not Miguel Cabrera is in the lineup. Without Cabrera and Victor Martinez, this Tigers’ offense lacks serious power. Chavez would make a strong tournament play tonight if Cabrera is out of the lineup again.

Analysis: Teheran pitches much better at home than he does on the road. He is a great fantasy option when the matchup is right, but unfortunately, that’s not the case tonight. The Dodgers are ranked first in wOBA (.352) and eighth in strikeout rate (19.3%) against right-handed pitching this season. He’s also the largest underdog on the board, as Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for the Dodgers.

Analysis: Kershaw is the premier pitching option tonight. He has had some awful luck this season, especially at the very end of his starts. It’s only a matter of time before he gets a break or two to go his way. He has a 2.53 SIERA with a K/9 of 11.3 this season. He is still the best pitcher in baseball and he draws one of the best pitching matchups on the board. The Braves don’t hit left-handed pitching well and they strike out at the eighth-highest rate of any team against southpaws. Kershaw is the chalk play at pitcher tonight.
