Shane Greene (FD: $7500, DK: $6500)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.11 — K Rate: 16.1% — K/9: 5.74 — BB Rate: 5.7% — GB Rate: 45.7%
2014: SIERA: 3.41 — K Rate: 23.5% — K/9: 9.27 — BB Rate: 8.4% — GB Rate: 50.2%
Chicago White Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.299 (Rank: 19)
Strikeout Rate: 20.7% (Rank: 19)
Analysis: Greene has been rocked in his last two starts. He has given up a combined 18 hits and 15 earned runs in those starts, lasting only 8.1 innings. That doesn’t exactly give us a ton of confidence in him heading into tonight’s start against the White Sox. Chicago may have average numbers against right-handed pitching, but they are capable of putting up a big number tonight in the hitter-friendly U.S. Cellular Field.
Pitcher Rating:54.1
Jeff Samardzija (FD: $8800, DK: $8700)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.20 — K Rate: 15.6% — K/9: 6.19 — BB Rate: 4.3% — GB Rate: 35.8%
2014: SIERA: 3.06 — K Rate: 23.0% — K/9: 8.28 — BB Rate: 4.9% — GB Rate: 50.2%
Detroit Tigers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.336 (Rank: 5)
Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 11)
Analysis: Samardzija has had mixed results in his first five starts with his new ball club, but his best start of the season came against the Tigers. He struck out seven batters in eight innings of work, while only giving up a single run. It’s tough for a pitcher to dominate an offense twice in a row though and this isn’t any average offense. The Tigers are ranked fifth in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. At his price point, he can safely be avoided tonight against Detroit.

Analysis: Cabrera hasn’t had a ton of power so far this season, but he is sporting a .368 wOBA against right-handed pitching. He is a switch-hitter that hits well from both sides of the plate and he draws a favorable matchup against Shane Green, who gave up a .345 wOBA to left-handed hitters last season. Cabrera is an excellent value tonight on FanDuel.

Pitching Stats:

St. Louis Cardinals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.327 (Rank: 8)
Strikeout Rate: 16.9% (Rank: 5)
Analysis: Hendricks has pitched better than most people would have expected heading into the season. He has a 3.08 SIERA with a K/9 of 8.3. I don’t expect the strikeout numbers to hold up over the course of the season though, as he is currently generating a low swinging strike rate of 5.4%. He’ll have a tough time racking up strikeouts tonight against the Cardinals, who are ranked eighth in wOBA and fifth in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:49.3
Tyler Lyons (FD: $5700, DK: $5100)
Pitching Stats:
2014: SIERA: 3.32 — K Rate: 23.2% — K/9: 8.84 — BB Rate: 7.1% — GB Rate: 43.3%
Chicago Cubs vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.331 (Rank: 11)
Strikeout Rate: 27.2% (Rank: 28)
Analysis: Tim Cooney didn’t pitch well in his chance to grab the fifth starting spot, so Lyons will now get the chance. He has pitched well in the minors this season, posting a 3.30 FIP with a K/9 of 10.8. He pitched pretty well for the Cardinals last season and has a great chance to pick up a win in his first start of the year. Lyons is a -130 favorite against a Cubs’ team that has the third-highest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season. He’s a little too risky for cash games, but he makes a terrific tournament play at his price point.

2014 vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.343 — ISO: 0.122 — OBP: 0.362
Analysis: Castro doesn’t have an extra-base hit against left-handed pitching this season, but he is still sporting a .474 wOBA. His price is cheap across the industry and he draws a favorable matchup against Tyler Lyons, who gave up a .345 wOBA to right-handed hitters last season.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.367 — ISO: 0.187 — OBP: 0.349
Analysis: Adams is one of my go-to plays at first base every time the Cardinals are facing a right-handed pitcher. Adams is not an every day player, which keeps his price at a very playable level, especially on FanDuel. He has a .375 wOBA and a .188 ISO against right-handed pitching this season and he draws a decent matchup against Kyle Hendricks tonight at home.

Analysis: Goldschmidt is my top play at any position tonight, but you are going to have to pay a pretty penny for him. Goldschmidt has crushed left-handed pitching this season with a .569 wOBA and a .500 ISO. He is playing in the best hitter’s venue in baseball and he is facing Tyler Matzek, who gave up a .372 wOBA to right-handed hitters last season.

Analysis: Dickerson has everything that we are looking for in DFS. Strikeout Rate: 18.3% (Rank: 9)
Analysis: Paxton has pitched well this season with a 3.51 SIERA and a K/9 of 8.8. He draw a tough matchup against the Angels tonight though, who are ranked seventh in wOBA against left-handed pitching. He has limited strikeout potential in this matchup and the risk is greater than the potential reward. He is a sizable underdog in this matchup and he can safely be avoided in all league formats.

Seattle Mariners vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.299 (Rank: 19)
Strikeout Rate: 20.1% (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Richards has struggled with his command this season (13.7% walk rate), but he is coming off of a strong start against the A’s, where he struck out five batters while only giving up one run in five innings of work. It’s only a matter of time before the strikeouts come and if he can hone in on the strike zone, he could be in for a strong outing tonight against the Mariners. Richards isn’t a recommended cash game play just yet, but he makes a strong tournament option if you are looking to differentiate your lineup.

Analysis: Cashner is off to a great start this season, posting a 2.96 SIERA with a K/9 of 10.4. He produces a high ground-ball rate and he gets to face an average Giants’ offense in the pitcher-friendly AT&T Park. The one concern with Cashner is that his splits aren’t quite as good on the road as they are at home. He’s a small favorite tonight against the Giants, but I’d rather pay a little extra to target Stephen Strasburg, who offers more upside and a better chance of getting the win.

San Diego Padres vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.311 (Rank: 13)
Strikeout Rate: 20.0% (Rank: 15)
Analysis: Vogelsong has pitched pretty well at AT&T Park over the last few years, but he’s too inconsistent for my liking. He has a decent strikeout rate, but he’s a threat to get shelled every time he takes the mound. He gives up a lot of home runs and the Padres are a very capable offense. Even at his depressed price point, I will have zero shares of Vogelsong tonight.

2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.426 — ISO: 0.192 — OBP: 0.421
2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.307 — ISO: 0.095 — OBP: 0.334
Analysis: Matt Kemp and Justin Upton are both in good spots to hit home runs, but Solarte is the better play dollar for dollar. He is priced under $3,000 on both FanDuel and DraftKings and he draws a fantastic matchup against Ryan Vogelsong, who gave up a .346 wOBA to left-handed hitters last season.
