Drew Smyly (FD: $7800, DK: $7800)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 1.73 — K Rate: 37.5% — K/9: 12.66 — BB Rate: 2.5% — GB Rate: 34.8%
2014: SIERA: 3.69 — K Rate: 21.5% — K/9: 7.82 — BB Rate: 6.8% — GB Rate: 36.6%
Boston Red Sox vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.312 (Rank: 20)
Strikeout Rate: 21.0% (Rank: 18)
Analysis: Smyly threw 79 pitches in his first start of the season and 87 pitches in his last start. The Rays are stretching him out a bit further in each start and his pitch count will likely reach the 90’s in tonight’s start against the Red Sox. Smyly has been terrific since joining the Rays’ staff and he has continued that success this year, posting a 1.73 SIERA and a K/9 of 12.6. He would see a sizable boost tonight if Hanley Ramirez is out of the lineup. He offers great upside at his price point, but the potential pitch count does limit his appeal a little bit.
Pitcher Rating:70.9
Rick Porcello (FD: $7800, DK: $6600)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.81 — K Rate: 21.2% — K/9: 8.16 — BB Rate: 7.3% — GB Rate: 44.2%
2014: SIERA: 3.88 — K Rate: 15.4% — K/9: 5.67 — BB Rate: 4.9% — GB Rate: 49.0%
Tampa Bay Rays vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.289 (Rank: 25)
Strikeout Rate: 22.4% (Rank: 26)
Analysis: Porcello has seen a major boost in his strikeout rate this season, but I don’t expect it to hold over the course of the season. He is pitching at the same velocity as last season and he is producing a similar swinging strike rate. He draws a favorable matchup against the Rays, who are ranked 25th in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. The Rays are also striking out at a high clip. There aren’t any red flags with Porcello, but I still prefer alternative options in his price range.

Kevin Kiermaier (FD: $2300, DK: $3300)
Position Eligibility: FD: OF — DK: OF
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.378 — ISO: 0.286 — OBP: 0.314
2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.362 — ISO: 0.218 — OBP: 0.339
Analysis: This pick hinges on where he bats in the Rays’ lineup. If he is at the top of the order like he was last night, he will provide terrific value in the outfield. He has hit right-handed pitching well this season, with a .378 wOBA and a .286 ISO. He also draws a favorable matchup against Rick Porcello, who gave up a .320 wOBA to left-handed hitters last season.
Secondary Plays:

2014 vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.322 — ISO: 0.151 — OBP: 0.325
Analysis: With Hanley Ramirez potentially getting the night off, Pedroia is the premier play on the Red Sox. He has hit left-handed pitching well throughout his career and this season is no exception, as he has posted a .436 wOBA and a .368 ISO. His 2014 season was plagued with injuries and it’s good to see the power back in his bat. Dollar for dollar, he’s one of the top options at second base tonight.

Pitching Stats:

Houston Astros vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.332 (Rank: 10)
Strikeout Rate: 23.4% (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Ross Detwiler was able to find some success against the Astros last night, but don’t expect the same result for Rodriguez tonight. The Astros’ offense may strike out at a high rate, but they hit a lot of home runs and they are ranked tenth in wOBA against left-handed pitching. Rodriguez has not pitched well in the last few years and he’s a sizable underdog in game that features a high total of 9.0 runs.
Pitcher Rating:33.6
Scott Feldman (FD: $6900, DK: $5900)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.91 — K Rate: 12.6% — K/9: 4.6 — BB Rate: 3.9% — GB Rate: 54.8%
2014: SIERA: 4.33 — K Rate: 14.0% — K/9: 5.34 — BB Rate: 6.5% — GB Rate: 46.9%
Texas Rangers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.259 (Rank: 29)
Strikeout Rate: 19.3% (Rank: 10)
Analysis: Feldman has one of the lowest strikeout rates of any starter in baseball. He is an effective pitcher in real life, but he offers very little upside in daily fantasy baseball. On the season, he has a K/9 of 4.6 with a strikeout rate of only 12.6%. He’s a large favorite tonight against the Rangers, who are ranked 29th in wOBA against right-handed pitching. He may be in line for the win, but it’s hard to target a pitcher whose ceiling is around five strikeouts.

Adrian Beltre (FD: $2800, DK: $4700)
Position Eligibility: FD: 3B — DK: 3B

2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.366 — ISO: 0.160 — OBP: 0.369
Analysis: Beltre is off to a slow start this season, but it’s only a matter of time before the variance evens out. His BABIP of .225 is not sustainable for someone that hits the ball as hard as Beltre does. He’s an appealing tournament play tonight on FanDuel at a price of only $2,800. He gets to face Scott Feldman in Minute Maid Park, which grades out as a top ten ballpark for both runs and home runs.
Secondary Plays:
Prince Fielder (FD: $3400, DK: $4400)

2014 vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.440 — ISO: 0.151 — OBP: 0.447
Analysis: Altuve may be expensive, but he’s as reliable of a second baseman as you are going to find in daily fantasy baseball. When the Astros are facing a left-handed pitcher, Altuve should be the first player that comes to mind. He currently boasts a .533 wOBA and a .161 ISO against southpaws. He’s one of the fastest players in baseball that can steal a base at any time. He also draws a favorable matchup against Wandy Rodriguez, who gave up a .463 wOBA to right-handed hitters last season.

Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.44 — K Rate: 21.1% — K/9: 7.44 — BB Rate: 5.5% — GB Rate: 50.0%

Milwaukee Brewers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.292 (Rank: 23)
Strikeout Rate: 22.8% (Rank: 27)
Analysis: Greinke takes the mound for the Dodgers tonight, after a relatively slow start by his standards. He has a 3.44 SIERA with a K/9 of 7.4. He has had much better success at home than he has on the road in the last few years, but he is still an elite pitching option tonight. He draws a favorable matchup against the Brewers, who are ranked 23rd in wOBA and 27th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. If I’m deciding between the two, I’d give the edge to Stephen Strasburg, but Greinke is certainly worth a look tonight against Milwaukee.
Pitcher Rating:87.2
Matt Garza (FD: $7100, DK: $6700)
Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.67 — K Rate: 14.3% — K/9: 5.83 — BB Rate: 9.8% — GB Rate: 49.0%

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.370 (Rank: 1)
Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 11)
Analysis: Garza’s numbers continue to trend in the wrong direction. He had a subpar 2014 campaign and it’s only gotten worse here in 2015. He has a 4.67 SIERA with a K/9 of only 5.8. He draws one of the worst matchups on the board, as the Dodgers are ranked first in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Garza doesn’t have a high enough strikeout rate to make up for the few runs that he will likely give up tonight.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.293 — ISO: 0.000 — OBP: 0.387
Analysis: Pederson just continues to hit home runs. He hit his seventh home runs of the season last night in his first at-bat of the game. He’s not your prototypical leadoff hitter that looks to get on base with singles and walks. He goes up to the plate looking for extra-bases. He has a .445 wOBA and a .371 ISO against right-handed pitching this season and he is still affordable on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

Minnesota Twins vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.294 (Rank: 22)
Strikeout Rate: 22.3% (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Chavez has pitched well this season, posting a 3.65 SIERA with a K/9 of 9.2. He does struggle with his command at times, but his high strikeout rate more than makes up for it. He draws a favorable matchup against the Twins on paper, as Minnesota is ranked 22nd in wOBA and 24th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. The Twins’ offense is starting to heat up though, which leaves Chavez as a better tournament play than cash game play.

Oakland Athletics vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.337 (Rank: 4)
Strikeout Rate: 16.4% (Rank: 3)
Analysis: If you took away the name, May’s numbers wouldn’t look too bad this season. He has a 3.65 SIERA with a K/9 of 7.5 and a walk rate of only 3.4%. There are plenty of pitchers with worse numbers than that. While I’d like to let the numbers do the work for me, there is no way that I’m targeting May tonight against the A’s. Oakland is currently ranked fourth in wOBA against right-handed pitching, striking out at the third-lowest rate of any team in the majors.

Analysis: If Reddick were on NBA Jam, he would be “On Fire!” Over his last ten games, he has racked up 15 hits, 15 RBIs, and 12 runs. That looks a lot like the total production from the Phillies over the last ten games. Reddick has a .498 wOBA and a .290 ISO against right-handed pitching this season and he draws a favorable matchup against Trevor May, who gave up a .393 wOBA to left-handed hitters last season.

Kansas City Royals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.345 (Rank: 3)
Strikeout Rate: 16.0% (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Salazar has been a strikeout wizards this season. Granted, it’s only been three starts, but he has a K/9 of 13.3 with a strikeout rate of 35%. Those numbers are not going to hold up over the course of the season and they will likely take a big hit after tonight’s game against the Royals, who strike out at the second-lowest rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season. I’m never a fan of targeting pitchers against the Royals and that’s not going to chance tonight.

He has not pitched well this season with a 5.44 SIERA and a K/9 of only 4.1. Vegas has this game set with an even spread and a relatively high total of 8.0 runs. Vargas provides little upside in this matchup.

Ryan Raburn (FD: $2500, DK: $3000)
Position Eligibility: FD: OF — DK: OF

2014 vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.264 — ISO: 0.138 — OBP: 0.263
Analysis: Raburn is always in play when the Indians are facing a left-handed pitcher. He’s not an everyday player, which keeps his price very affordable on FanDuel. He should bat in the heart of the order tonight against Jason Vargas, who has given up a .358 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season. Raburn been a monster against southpaws this season, posting a .508 wOBA and a .268 ISO.

Analysis: Morales continues to get overlooked at first base, despite a great start to the season and a very cheap price point on FanDuel. He has a .383 wOBA and a .216 ISO against right-handed pitching and he should see a few RBI opportunities tonight against Danny Salazar.
