Pitcher Grind Down
- Jon Lester – Lester is having one of the best seasons in his career. He owns a 2.54 ERA with a K/9 of 9.0. He gives up few walks (1.88 per 9 innings) and few HR’s (0.66 per 9 innings). He’s fit in well with the A’s pitching staff and draws a pretty decent matchup tonight against the White Sox who are ranked 18th in wOBA against LH pitching. The White Sox are also a strikeout-prone offense which helps Lester’s cause. Rating = 8
Salaries: $9700 FD, $19850 DD, $11600 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- John Danks – Danks has to be counting down the days to the end of the season. He has had a forgettable 2014 campaign. He is sporting a 5.12 ERA with a low K/9 of 5.9. He walks too many batters (3.4 per 9 innings) and he gives up too many HR’s (1.3 per 9 innings). He is an easy avoid tonight against the A’s who have a few lefty mashers in their lineup. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5500 FD, $9850 DD, $5900 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
Josh Donaldson – Donaldson is an extra base hit machine against LH pitching. Of his 37 hits off of LH pitching this season, 24 of them have gone for extra bases. He has a .453 wOBA against southpaws and draws a terrific matchup against Danks who has given up a .386 wOBA to batters from the right side of the plate.
Additional Plays: Derek Norris, Jonny Gomes
Chicago White Sox
Avoid all White Sox tonight against Jon Lester who has held both LH and RH hitters under a .305 wOBA this season.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tom Koehler – Koehler has pitched well at home this season, but owns a 4.80 ERA away from Marlins Park. He has given up a .334 wOBA to opponents on the road and will have his hands full with a RH heavy Brewers offense. Koehler is a reverse splits pitcher who has given up a .321 wOBA to RH hitters. He is a less than appealing option tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7000 FD, $13950 DD, $6600 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Matt Garza – In his first start back from injury, Garza gave up 6 earned runs in only 3 innings of work against the Cubs. He will look to bounce back tonight against the Marlins, but at this point, he is a GPP option at best. Anytime you put Giancarlo Stanton in a HR-friendly ballpark, he could quickly ruin the opposing pitcher’s outing. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7300 FD, $14600 DD, $8300 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Miami
Christian Yelich – Over his last 10 games, Yelich has 15 hits, 10 runs, and 4 RBI’s. I like the matchup against Garza who was not sharp in his first inning back from injury. Yelich is a solid cash game option.
Additional Plays: Giancarlo Stanton
Milwaukee
Ryan Braun – . Koehler has given up a .321 wOBA to RH hitters and he has struggled on the road this season with a 4.80 ERA. Braun’s price has come down and he’s facing Koehler at Miller Park which is a HR-friendly ballpark.
Additional Plays: Aramis Ramirez, Jonathan Lucroy

Pitcher Grind Down
- Andrew Cashner – Cashner has great splits at home, but has been an average pitcher away from Petco Park this season. On the road, he has a 3.75 ERA while giving up a .335 wOBA to his opponents. Tonight he faces a Dodgers offense that is ranked 7th in wOBA against RH pitching. Cashner does have a high strikeout rate, but is a deep GPP play at best tonight. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7800 FD, $13000 DD, $6600 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Roberto Hernandez – Hernandez has given up 11 earned runs over his last 3 starts, one of which was against this same Padres team. On the season he owns a 4.00 ERA (4.49 xFIP) with a K/9 of only 5.7. Even in a favorable matchup against the Padres, I will not have any exposure to the man formerly known as Fausto. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5800 FD, $11950 DD, $6500 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD

San Diego
While I won’t be targeting Roberto Hernandez tonight, I’m not sure that I will be targeting any hitters against him either. Seth Smith is probably the best target here, but he is only 4 for his last 35 at the plate.
LA Dodgers
Dee Gordon – Gordon is riding a 5-game hitting streak and he has scored 2 or more runs in each of his last 3 outings. Gordon always has nice upside thanks to his incredible speed. He has already stolen 58 bases this season, 50 of which have come against RH pitchers.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Collin McHugh – McHugh has one of the higher strikeout rates in baseball. He’s averaging 9.4 strikeouts per 9 innings to go along with his impressive 2.89 ERA. McHugh has really pitched well away from home with a 1.96 ERA. Tonight he faces a Mariners offense that is ranked 17th in wOBA against RH pitching. He makes a nice upside play for tournaments, but there are safer options to target in cash games. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8200 FD, $17500 DD, $9400 DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Roenis Elias – On the surface, Elias may look like a terrific play against the Astros, but I actually think this is a tough spot for him. He has had pretty average splits at home and the Astros are actually very good as a team against LH pitching. They are ranked 4th in wOBA against lefties this season. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6700 FD, $12950 DD, $8000 DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Houston
Jose Altuve – With only a few weeks left in the season, you should know by now that Altuve is pretty good against LH pitching. He’s batting .417 with a .446 wOBA against southpaws this season. He also gives you the added bonus of stolen base potential.
Additional Plays: Chris Carter
Seattle
Kyle Seager and Robinson Cano are both viable fantasy options at home against a righty, but McHugh has actually kept LH hitters in check this season as he has held them to a .287 wOBA.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Wade Miley – Miley has had a very up and down season. Right when it seems like he is turning things around, he ends up getting knocked around in his next start. On the season he owns a 4.18 ERA, but he does have a solid K/9 of 8.3. He’s a sizable underdog tonight against the Giants who have the best offense in baseball over the last 30 days. He’s a bit too risky to trust in any leagues. Rating = 4
Salaries: $ FD, $NA DD, $NA DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Yusmeiro Petit – Petit could be a very sneaky play tonight. He’s a big favorite in a game that features a low run total of only 6.5. He is coming off of a rough outing against the Rockies, but we have to let that one slide as it was a game in Coors Field. On the season he owns an ERA under 4.00 and he is averaging over 10 K’s per 9 innings. He draws a favorable matchup against the Diamondbacks who have the 2nd worst offense in baseball over the last 30 days. Rating = 7
*Salaries: *
Batter Grind Down
Avoid all Diamondbacks against Yusmeiro Petit tonight. They are projected as one of the lowest scoring teams on the board tonight.
San Francisco
Hunter Pence – Pence’s hit streak finally came to an end, but he’s still one of the hottest hitters in baseball. He has 16 hits over his last 10 games and draws a nice matchup against Miley who has given up 18 HR’s to RH hitters this season. Pence is batting .303 with a .360 wOBA this season against lefties this season.
