Mike Leake (FD: $6600, DK: $6800)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 63 — SIERA: 4.53 — K Rate: 12.7% — K/9: 4.81 — BB Rate: 7.5% — FB Rate: 28.0% — HR/FB: 20.3%
2014: IP: 214 — SIERA: 3.51 — K Rate: 18.2% — K/9: 6.89 — BB Rate: 5.5% — FB Rate: 26.4% — HR/FB: 13.1%
Philadelphia Phillies vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.269 (Rank: 30) — Strikeout Rate: 20.0% (Rank: 17) — wRC+: 67 (Rank: 30)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.70 (Rank: 27)
Analysis: Leake has not enjoyed the same success that he had on the mound last season. He currently owns a 4.53 SIERA with a very low K/9 of 4.8. He is not generating many strikeouts, which really limits his upside in daily fantasy baseball. A matchup against the Phillies may be what Leake needs to cure his pitching blues, but he’s still a sizable underdog. He should be used strictly as a tournament play tonight on the road.
Pitcher Rating:60.4
Cole Hamels (FD: $9900, DK: $10100)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 74 — SIERA: 3.45 — K Rate: 25.3% — K/9: 9.20 — BB Rate: 8.3% — FB Rate: 35.8% — HR/FB: 14.5%
2014: IP: 204 — SIERA: 3.29 — K Rate: 23.9% — K/9: 8.71 — BB Rate: 7.1% — FB Rate: 31.1% — HR/FB: 8.2%
Cincinnati Reds vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.330 (Rank: 6) — Strikeout Rate: 19.9% (Rank: 13) — wRC+: 107 (Rank: 11)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.71 (Rank: 25)
Analysis: Hamels is having another outstanding season. He has a 3.45 SIERA with a K/9 of 9.2. He has given up a 14.5% HR/FB rate this season, but we can expect some positive regression in that area moving forward. He draws a fairly difficult matchup tonight against the Reds, who are ranked 6th in wOBA (.330) against left-handed pitching this season. Hamels is in play, but he doesn’t have as good of a matchup as a few of the other aces to take the mound tonight.

Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 63 — SIERA: 4.84 — K Rate: 11.1% — K/9: 4.26 — BB Rate: 5.2% — FB Rate: 36.1% — HR/FB: 11.4%

wOBA: 0.318 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 23.2% (Rank: 23) — wRC+: 98 (Rank: 19)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.76 (Rank: 18)
Analysis: Buehrle is an easy pitcher to shy away from in daily fantasy baseball. He’s an average left-handed pitcher at best and he has one of the lowest strikeout rates among qualified starters. He has given up a .330+ wOBA to both left and right-handed hitters since the start of 2014. He should be avoided on the road tonight against the Nationals.
Pitcher Rating:40.1
Taylor Jordan (FD: $4400, DK: $4800)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 4 — SIERA: 6.06 — K Rate: 4.6% — K/9: 1.93 — BB Rate: 9.1% — FB Rate: 36.8% — HR/FB: 0.0%

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.81 (Rank: 12)
Analysis: Jordan is making his first start of the season. He made five starts for the Nationals in 2014, posting a 4.18 SIERA and a K/9 of 6.0. He hasn’t been a high strikeout pitcher at any level and he draws one of the most difficult pitching matchups on the board. The Blue Jays are ranked 4th in wOBA (.323) and 7th in wRC+ (104) against right-handed pitching this season.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 220 — wOBA: 0.311 — ISO: 0.179 — wRC+: 98
Analysis: Even though we have two hittable pitchers on the mound, the total for the game is still set at only 8.0 runs. It’s hard to justify paying up for anyone in this game, as there is a game in Coors Field tonight. Colabello offers good value in the outfield though. He has been swinging a hot bat this season, posting a .390 wOBA and a .119 ISO against right-handed pitching.

2014 vs. LH Pitching: PA: 240 — wOBA: 0.343 — ISO: 0.135 — wRC+: 118
Analysis: The Nationals are a sneaky team to stack tonight. With the game in Coors Field, they will fly under the radar in both cash games and tournaments. They should be able to make great contact tonight against Mark Buehrle, who is a low-strikeout pitcher. Zimmerman has hit southpaws well this season, posting a .344 wOBA and a .227 ISO.

Detroit Tigers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.325 (Rank: 3) — Strikeout Rate: 19.1% (Rank: 9) — wRC+: 106 (Rank: 5)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.87 (Rank: 8)
Analysis: Gray has established himself as one of the top pitchers in the American League. He doesn’t have the same strikeout potential as some of the other aces, but he has a 3.45 SIERA with a K/9 of 8.0. His price tag on DraftKings may be appealing ($8,600), but he’s not on my radar tonight against the Tigers. Detroit hits well at home and they are ranked 3rd in wOBA (.325) and 5th in wRC+ (106) against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:65.6
Anibal Sanchez (FD: $8200, DK: $7800)

Oakland Athletics vs. RH Pitching: (2015)

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.88 (Rank: 6)
Analysis: Sanchez has given up a combined 16 earned runs in his last three starts. He comes into tonight’s contest with less than stellar form, but he still has great numbers on the season. He owns a 3.54 SIERA with a K/9 of 9.1. I’m going to wait for a better matchup for Sanchez before employing him in daily fantasy. He draws a difficult matchup against the A’s, who are ranked 6th or better in wOBA (.323), strikeout rate (17.3%), wRC+ (110), and pitches per plate appearance against right-handed pitching.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 4.01 (Rank: 1)
Analysis: May has better numbers than most people may think. He owns a 3.77 SIERA with a K/9 of 7.4. Those numbers are better than Shelby Miller’s if anyone cares. May is still a very risky fantasy option though, especially considering his matchup the Red Sox, who have the lowest strikeout rate of any team against right-handed pitching this season. The Red Sox also average 4.01 pitches per plate appearance, which is the highest in the majors.
Pitcher Rating:47.0
Rick Porcello (FD: $7600, DK: $6500)

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.78 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Porcello is a decent value play tonight if you are looking for a cheap SP2 on multi-pitcher sites. He is a sizable favorite against a Twins’ offense that is currently ranked 23rd in wOBA (.295) and 26th (22.1%) in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. Porcello may give up a couple of runs in the process, but he should be able to give us a quality start with a decent chance of picking up the win.

Analysis: Lester has pitched very well in his last three starts. He owns a 3.37 SIERA on the season with a K/9 of 8.8. I fully expect him to average more strikeouts this season than he did in 2014, as he is now pitching in the National League. The Marlins hit left-handed pitching better than they do right-handed pitching, but they are still a plus-matchup. They are ranked 17th in strikeout rate against southpaws and they average the eighth-fewest pitches per plate appearance this season.

Analysis: Haren is having another mediocre season. He owns a 4.18 SIERA with a K/9 of 6.2. He is an extreme fly-ball pitcher that has an above-average HR/FB rate. That’s not a great combination for pitchers. While Marlins Park is not a home run-friendly ballpark, it’s still a major concern tonight against the Cubs. Haren can safely be avoided in all league formats.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 616 — wOBA: 0.391 — ISO: 0.253 — wRC+: 149
Analysis: While this isn’t the best hitter’s park around, Rizzo has the power to hit home runs anywhere. He is facing an extreme fly-ball pitcher that struggles to keep the ball in the park. Rizzo’s price is currently depressed, giving us an opportunity to buy low. He has always hit right-handed pitching well and this season is no different (.402 wOBA with a .257 ISO).

wOBA: 0.337 (Rank: 3) — Strikeout Rate: 20.3% (Rank: 16) — wRC+: 111 (Rank: 7)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.80 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: Sale is coming off of his best start of the season, striking out 12 batters in 7.2 innings against the Orioles. He is facing a hot Rangers’ offense tonight, but I’ll side with the elite pitcher in this one. Sale owns a 2.96 SIERA with a K/9 of 10.1 this season, yet he’s still priced under $11,000 on both FanDuel and DraftKings. He has as much upside as any pitcher on the mound tonight and he’s playable in both cash games and tournaments.

Nick Martinez (FD: $6700, DK: $5300)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 62 — SIERA: 4.72 — K Rate: 13.4% — K/9: 5.08 — BB Rate: 7.3% — FB Rate: 33.3% — HR/FB: 6.0%
2014: IP: 140 — SIERA: 5.22 — K Rate: 12.6% — K/9: 4.94 — BB Rate: 9.0% — FB Rate: 47.3% — HR/FB: 8.1%
Chicago White Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.302 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 19.2% (Rank: 10) — wRC+: 89 (Rank: 22)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.70 (Rank: 28)
Analysis: Martinez draws a decent matchup against the White Sox tonight, but that’s about all he has going in his favor. He has a 4.72 SIERA with a low K/9 of 5.1 this season. There is very little upside here and Martinez can safely be avoided in all league formats.

Adam Eaton (FD: $2500, DK: $3900)
Position Eligibility: FD: OF — DK: OF
2015 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 195 — wOBA: 0.299 — ISO: 0.119 — wRC+: 87
2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 538 — wOBA: 0.344 — ISO: 0.119 — wRC+: 118
Analysis: Eaton homered in last night’s loss to the Rangers. His numbers against right-handed pitching are down this season, but he’s slowly turning it around with hits in eight of his last ten games. He is another player that should experience some positive regression, as the .270 BABIP is a career low. Take advantage of the cheap price tag in tonight’s favorable matchup.
