MLB Tuesday Late Game Value Picks

MLB Tuesday Late Game Value Picks

Vlad Home Run

It’s a great time for baseball as there is plenty of intrigue to go around. You have the New York Yankees dugout struggling to stick together amidst a six-game losing streak, the Boston Red Sox finally getting over the .500 hump with a win last night, and the surprise Cleveland Indians taking batting practice on the poor Kansas City Royals’ pitchers. For those of you who didn’t happen see the Indians game last night, check out this box score

The Royals’ relief pitcher Vin Mazzaro gave up an insane 14 runs in two innings which led to the Royals worst loss in franchise history. In all, the team combined to give up 20 hits, 19 runs, and 3 stolen bases. For us fantasy players, having players in the Indians lineup could have won or lost your leagues, luckily for myself, I had three Indians in my lineup. While it would have been nice to have the whole team, the lesson learned here is that taking players at the right value against the right matchup is critical to your success.

With salaries changing every day and different pitching matchups every night, it is important to do your research and find the best available players at the best price. If you are lazy or don’t have enough time to do the research, this is where I come in. There are still 12 games on the docket for tonight which means you still have plenty of time to get into more leagues and win yourself some money. And I’m here to help. Using Draftstreet’s scoring system and salaries, I have found the top value picks for each position for tonight. Some of these picks are backed by pitcher vs. batter splits, others are priced low with good matchups, and a few of the picks are just hunches.

Drum roll please…Bddddadddddadddddd…

Name Position Opponent Price Comment
Kurt Suzuki C LAA $5,718 While Oakland isn’t a great hitting team, I don’t trust inexperienced pitchers on the road, plus Suzuki has been playing well.
Billy Butler 1B CLE $6,199 It’s a small sampling but Butler is batting .625 against Carrasco and I have a feeling the Royals will win big in a revenge game.
Rickie Weeks 2B LAD $5,560 Weeks is definitely worth his value at $5,560 against an erratic Kuroda.
Greg Dobbs 3B NYM $5,124 Dobbs has been quietly putting together a very nice season, I like him against Niese tonight.
Elvis Andrus SS CWS $6,688 I’m not sure what it is but I think Andrus will have a big night against Danks and the White Sox.
Juan Rivera OF DET $3,404 Rivera bat .667 against Porcello and is only 3 grand, he is a good buy tonight.
Vlad Guererro OF BOS $5,260 Vlad has 25 at-bats against Wakefield and is batting .480 with 5 homeruns and only 3 strike-outs.
Jeff Francoeur OF CLE $6,704 Refer to the Billy Butler explanation. This game has revenge written all over it.
David Ortiz DH BAL $4,966 Something tells me that Ortiz goes yard tonight.
Daniel Hudson SP SD $11,705 Hudson is a great young pitcher, especially at home. I think he will go a solid 7 innings with at least 6 K’s.

Carl Crawford OF BAL $3,279
Alcides Escobar SS KC $3,890

While I can’t make any guarantees on these picks, they are definitely worth a shot in your lineup tonight if you can fit them in. I would like to get a little more interaction going so leave me some comments about who you decided to take, how they did for you, or even who your sleeper picks for tonight’s games are. So be sure to leave a comment and good luck tonight!
