MLB Pitching Primer: Sunday, July 8th

Everything in the sport of baseball comes down to the hitter-versus-pitcher matchup – which makes pitching the most important element of MLB DFS play. Without an understanding of the best pitching plays on the day, your DFS efforts will be sunk! Each day, the Pitching Primer will provide you with some of the top pitching plays on the day – taking a close look at the “why” behind these picks, and helping you to identify pitchers others might overlook.

Sunday, July 8th

Happy Sunday everyone! This is an interesting Sunday pitching slate, where we have a lot of pretty good options, but nothing that quite qualifies as a can’t-miss arm to trust. I’ll put a couple of these guys into these different categories, but really, this looks like a slate to spread out at pitcher. I love to go all-in a pitcher or two when possible, but I don’t see anyone here that I’m willing to do that with. The good thing about this type of slate is that you are not breaking the bank on any of these pitchers, so you’ll have an opportunity to spend on some bats. On FanDuel, there is not a single pitcher over $9,600 and the cheapest pitcher I’m looking at is just $6,600. On DK/FDRFT, the most expensive salary is $10,200/$19,300, and you can basically play any two options you want in any format.

ARMS TO TRUST

The arms to trust today are both pitchers who generally qualify as ‘better in real life than in fantasy’ options. But when it comes to the word ‘trust’, these matchups put them at the top of the trustability list.
