Happy Friday! Major League Baseball has 13 evening games on tap to begin the weekend, starting with the Marlins against the Reds at 6:10 PM ET.

The forecast at first pitch tonight in Atlanta has temperatures in the 90s with some wind blowing out to left-center field – a boon to offense. The weather remains on the cooler side in San Francisco, which should help pitchers in that ballpark. As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers.

Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Friday, August 14th!

Best MLB Player Props for Friday, August 14th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:10 PM ET on Friday, August 14th:

Jonathan Aranda OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-130, BetMGM)

Aranda has been swinging a good bat in August, with a 124 wRC+ and .318 batting average in 48 plate appearances. Aranda draws one of the most favorable matchups on the board tonight, facing Chris Bassitt, who has consistently struggled against lefties throughout his career.

Aranda, hitting in the 2-hole, should have opportunities to drive in runs tonight with Yandy Diaz in front of him. There is talent behind him in the lineup too, which increases the likelihood of Aranda scoring a run. This is good value.

Liam Hicks OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-110, BetMGM)

Hicks is one of the more underrated hitters in all of baseball. He has mashed RHP to the tune of a 145 wRC+ and .895 OPS this season. Arguably even more impressively, he’s walked more than he’s struck out in those plate appearances.

Chris Bassitt has always struggled across the platoon, and this season has been no different – 6.02 FIP, 1.87 WHIP. This is a good matchup for Hicks, and the price is more than playable.

Victor Mesa Jr. OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105, BetMGM)

Add this pick with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONBETMGM

Mesa isn’t a recognizable name for most casual baseball fans, but he owns a respectable 106 wRC+ and .752 OPS against RHP this season. In particular, his contact-quality metrics are excellent in these matchups – 14.9% barrel rate, 44.7% hard-hit rate.

He’s capable of clearing this number with a long ball by himself. He should also see an opportunity or two with guys on base, facing the hittable Chris Bassitt. A well-timed single would be enough to get the job done.
