Best MLB Player Props for Monday, April 6th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:10 PM ET on Monday, April 6th:

Max Scherzer OVER 4.5 Hits Allowed (-105, Novig)

Scherzer only allowed 4 hits in his first turn through the rotation last week, but it was a matchup against the Rockies. He still allowed a 90.6% in-zone contact rate in that start and didn’t miss many bats.

The Dodgers are in a tough travel spot, coming over from Washington without the benefit of an off day. Still, they rested a number of their key bats yesterday, and this is a great on-paper matchup for them against Scherzer.

The absence of Mookie Betts and the travel spot are concerns, but at this price, it’s a worthwhile risk.

Kyle Tucker OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-125, BetMGM)

Tucker received a scheduled day off yesterday in the team’s series finale against the Nationals. Consequently, he shouldn’t be too fatigued tonight after getting on a plane from Washington to Toronto last night.

Tucker isn’t off to a blistering start to the new campaign, but he’s still in a dream spot in the 2-hole for the Dodgers. He’s going to have a lot of RBI chances at the top of the order, and the talent behind him gives him a good chance to score runs if he gets on base.

Max Scherzer struggled to a 5.90 FIP and 1.28 WHIP across the platoon last year. This is great value on Tucker to have a good day at the plate on Monday.

Logan Gilbert UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts (-134, Caesars)

During Spring Training, Gilbert was vocal about how much he liked his cutter and that it could see more usage this season compared to previous years. In his first start of the season, he threw his cutter 18% of the time, with his slider seeing its usage drop considerably from 2025.

It’s worth noting that Gilbert had an extended stint on the injured list last summer and didn’t look great upon his return. It’s entirely possible that he’s dealing with some lingering issues related to command or feel of some of his breaking stuff.

If Gilbert’s increased cutter usage and decreased slider usage are here to stay, this is simply too high of a number for him in most matchups.
