Tuesday’s MLB slate features 15 games, with all 30 teams scheduled to be in action. First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. ET between the Marlins and Phillies, with the rest of the action spread throughout the evening.
As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers. The conditions at Wrigley Field once again appear to be on the hitter-friendly side for Tuesday. It’s also hot in St. Louis, Sacramento, and many other areas of the country, which could lead to an exciting Dinger Tuesday for bettors!
Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Tuesday, June 16th!
Best MLB Player Props for Tuesday, June 16th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Tuesday, June 16th:
- Kodai Senga Over/Under 4.5 Strikeouts
- Edward Cabrera Over/Under 5.5 Strikeouts
- Logan Gilbert Over/Under 6.5 Strikeouts
Kodai Senga OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-150, Caesars)
Senga’s velocity was down during his rehab stint prior to being activated for tonight’s start, but this is simply too good of a matchup against the Reds. As a team, Cincinnati hasn’t been chasing much out of the zone in recent weeks. That said, Nathaniel Lowe is the only starter in tonight’s Reds lineup with below a 21% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching during the last 30 days.
Senga’s velocity is a concern. His health is always a concern. Still, this is a playable price for a talented pitcher who will be facing a lineup with 8 strikeout targets this evening.
Edward Cabrera UNDER 5.5 Strikeouts (-120, bet365)
This season, Cabrera has a 16.1% strikeout rate across the platoon. Tonight, he will be facing a Colorado lineup with 7 left-handed hitters. Following a brief stint on the injured list, Cabrera’s velocity has looked better in his last 2 starts, but he’s still not generating a ton of strikeouts against lefties. Colorado has some big swing-and-miss guys in their lineup on Tuesday, but most of them are buried at the bottom of the order – there is no guarantee that Cabrera will face them three times. There is some value on the under at this price.
Logan Gilbert UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts (+120, Novig)
Bettors might want to wait for lineup confirmation here, but if Baltimore deploys 4+ right-handed batters tonight against Logan Gilbert, it’s difficult to see them striking out too many times in this matchup. Gilbert has a 19.2% strikeout rate against righties this year compared to a 30.9% strikeout rate across the platoon. Overall, the Orioles have been making more contact of late than they were earlier in the season. There is value on the under at this price.
