Wednesday’s MLB slate features 10 evening games, beginning at 6:05 pm ET with the Marlins against the Phillies.
The forecast looks nice around the league this evening, with warmer temperatures and no significant instances of inclement weather threatening any postponements. As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers.
Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Wednesday, August 19th!
Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, August 19th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM ET on Wednesday, August 19th:
- Ethan Pecko Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
- Ben Rice Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Luis Garcia Jr. Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Ethan Pecko UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-151, DraftKings)
Pecko will make his MLB debut on Wednesday following a tumultuous journey through the minor leagues. A strained forearm cost him the first two months of last season. Then he underwent thoracic outlet syndrome over the winter.
Houston hasn’t been overly cautious with his workload in 2026, but it’s nonetheless worth noting that he’s rapidly approaching his professional career-high in innings for a single season. There are also doubts about how effective he will be at the MLB level given that he struggled to a 4.68 xERA in the minors this year.
The Astros have a rested arm barn ahead of first pitch this evening. They would likely be thrilled with a 5-and-dive outing from Pecko.
Ben Rice OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-146, DraftKings)
Rice has struggled to a .156 batting average and 61 wRC+ since the All-Star Break, but he still has a 14.1% barrel rate and 52.1% hard-hit rate in that span, indicating that some positive regression could be around the corner in the box score statistics.
Rice will face Chris Bassitt tonight, who has consistently struggled to get outs against LHB throughout his career. This is good value for a talented 2-hole hitter in a plus matchup.
Luis Garcia Jr. OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-146, DraftKings)
Garcia almost never walks, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing from a betting perspective. It increases the likelihood that he will put balls in play rather than walking and “wasting” a trip to the plate as far as Hits, Runs, and RBIs are concerned.
Garcia has been doing a lot of damage to baseballs since the All-Star Break, posting a 16.5% barrel rate and 43.0% hard-hit rate. He should have some opportunities to do damage tonight against Chris Bassitt, who has always struggled across the platoon.
