MLB Player Props Today

Randy Vasquez Over/Under 4.5 Strikeouts
Tyler Phillips Over/Under 1.5 Walks Allowed
Bryan Woo Over/Under 4.5 Strikeouts

Randy Vasquez UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+125), DraftKings

It’s always a little bit stressful betting strikeout props before seeing umpire assignments, but it’s difficult to see Randy Vasquez getting to 5 strikeouts, even in a very favorable matchup. Vasquez doesn’t throw many first-pitch strikes, doesn’t miss many bats, and doesn’t benefit from many called strikes. In 2024, he has a dreadful 8.5% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters – of which there are likely to be five in the Colorado lineup. At plus-money, this is worth a stab.

Tyler Phillips OVER 1.5 Walks Allowed (-145), BetMGM

Tyler Phillips owns a spectacular 2.2% walk rate through his first 25 innings of MLB work. That being said, he’s highly unlikely to sustain that number. Phillips has thrown only 57.3% first-pitch strikes since being called up and isn’t benefiting from many called strikes, either. His arsenal is built around a sweeper, which is a difficult pitch to consistently throw in the zone. Thus, it’s no surprise to look at his minor league numbers and see that he routinely flirted with 10%+ walk rates during his developmental journey. Phillips isn’t a very good pitcher. A patient Seattle lineup that brought in some reinforcements at the trade deadline could make life tough on him this evening.

Bryan Woo UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-125), BetMGM

On the surface, Bryan Woo has a great matchup against a Philadelphia offense that ranks 20th in strikeout rate against RHP across the last 2 weeks. However, those numbers only include a few games of the contact-oriented Austin Hays, who has struck out in only 19.3% of his plate appearances against RHP this year. Woo also hasn’t thrown more than 73 pitches in a game since June 6th. He’s had a very cautious workload since returning from the injured list. Woo is a talented pitcher, but the leash is likely too short for him to get to 5 strikeouts in this spot unless he gets a very pitcher-friendly umpire to help him out. We won’t know umpire assignments until later in the day.
