All 30 MLB teams are on the schedule to begin the new week of baseball, which means plenty of betting opportunities are on the board as well! First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. ET in Baltimore, with the rest of the action spread throughout the evening.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Monday, July 28th!

Gunnar Henderson OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145, DraftKings)

Henderson has put together a tremendous season against right-handed pitching to date, hitting .312 with a 153 wRC+ and .913 OPS. Tonight, he will get to face Chris Bassitt, who has historically struggled against left-handed hitters. This year has been no different for Bassitt, who owns a 4.27 FIP and 1.47 WHIP across the platoon entering play on Monday. Henderson, hitting in between Jordan Westburg and Adley Rutschman, should have some chances to collect counting stats.

Troy Melton OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-135, DraftKings)

Melton didn’t have the MLB debut he dreamed of having, but the Tigers still let him complete 5 innings and throw 90 pitches despite allowing 6 earned runs on 7 hits. That obviously bodes well for his upcoming usage, assuming he can do a somewhat better job with run prevention. He gets a favorable matchup this evening against an Arizona lineup that is quickly spiraling against right-handed pitching. Entering play, the Diamondbacks offense ranks 23rd in wRC+ in those matchups during the last 14 days. They also rank 7th in swing% as one of the more aggressive lineups in the big leagues. Melton should have every opportunity to get 15+ outs.

Elly De La Cruz OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-110, DraftKings)

Elly De La Cruz put up goose eggs across the box score yesterday, which doesn’t happen particularly often – and it happens in consecutive games even less frequently. De La Cruz hasn’t gone consecutive games without a hit since June 19. This evening, he gets to face Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who will be followed by a Dodgers bullpen that is very much in flux at the moment. De La Cruz should have opportunities to make a positive impact with his bat on Monday.
