MLB Player Props for Thursday, 5/1: Best Bets & Predictions Today
What kind of performances can we expect on Thursday from Bryson Stott, Justin Verlander, and Jordan Beck? Follow along as our MLB betting analyst, Nick Galaida, breaks down three of his favorite MLB prop bets for Thursday, May 1st. Thursday’s MLB slate began earlier this afternoon with a handful of travel day spots across the league. That being said, there are still 4 games left to get underway as of this writing, giving the betting community plenty of options to consider adding to their card if they were unable to participate in the action earlier in the day.
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat or unlucky if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.
Below, you can find my 3 picks for Thursday, May 1st!

Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, May 1st
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:45 PM ET on Thursday, May 1st:
- Bryson Stott Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Justin Verlander Over/Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
- Jordan Beck Over/Under 0.5 Hits
Bryson Stott OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-160, DraftKings)
Stott is in the leadoff spot once again for the Phillies on Thursday evening, giving this bet great value. Since being elevated to the top of the Philadelphia lineup, Stott is hitting .306 across 71 plate appearances in addition to walking at a 9.9% rate. He has a hit in 12 of his last 13 games, excluding a pair of contests in which he was used as a pinch hitter. Stott is positioned to make a positive impact for the Phillies once again.
Justin Verlander OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-160, DraftKings)
Verlander draws an extremely favorable matchup on Thursday night against the Rockies, a team that will be playing a road game coming out of Denver’s altitude without the benefit of an off day in between contests. That being said, Verlander enters play this evening with a 4.99 ERA and 1.40 WHIP this season. Even against the lowly Rockies, his earned runs allowed line would be more appropriately set at over/under 2.5. There are a lot of ways for an offense to scrape together 2 runs, especially against a pitcher who is allowing nearly 1.5 baserunners per inning in 2025.
Jordan Beck OVER 0.5 Hits (-160, bet365)
Beck went hitless yesterday against Atlanta, but he’s been seeing the ball well since earning a promotion to the top half of the Colorado lineup. Across his last 6 games, Beck is hitting .300 with a 169 wRC+. He gets a good matchup against Justin Verlander, who has struggled to keep runners off of the basepaths early this season. This is decent value for Beck to get a base knock.
