The combat sports leader is bringing a second numbered event in as many weekends to celebrate their new deal with Paramount. Sydney, Australia will play host to the octagon as Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski looks to hold serve at home against a familiar opponent in Diego Lopes. These featherweights squared off last April, with the Aussie getting the nod on the scorecards, but Lopes’ bounce-back knockout against “Lord” Jean Silva was big enough to catapult him to an immediate rematch. There are 14 fights on the bill, as the UFC will be concluding the “Road to UFC” (RTUFC) tournament in the flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, and lightweight divisions during the preliminary portion of the event. Let’s begin with the lightest among them, as Aaron Tau looks to break through as a RTUFC Champion.

UFC 325: Volkanovski vs. Lopes 2 – MMA DFS Picks & Betting Breakdown

Namsrai Batbayar ($8,300) vs. Aaron Tau ($7,900)

Fight Odds: -130 Batbayar vs. +102 Tau
Weight Class: 125lb. (Flyweight)

Namsrai Batbayar has never been in a boring fight. All 10 of his professional appearances have ended inside the distance, including 5 in the very first round. Batbayar’s only loss as a professional was against Nyamjargal Tumendemberel (1-1 UFC; 2-0 RTUFC), another kill-or-be-killed fighter with 8 finishes in 9 professional victories. Batbayar likes when he can dominate physically, he batters opponents with power strikes on the feet, and he fights with fearless offense. The downside to his approach is that he can be countered when he gets reckless, he has limited cage time as a pro, and he hasn’t fought the highest quality opposition. Batbayar has already overcome the odds to make the finals, as he was a plus-money underdog in both of his RTUFC wins.

Aaron Tau had the door to his UFC opportunity slammed shut in his face against Elijah Smith (2-0 UFC) on DWCS in 2024. That fight was at bantamweight, but Tau has been competing in the flyweight division ever since, posting a 3-0 record with a pair of TKOs and a unanimous decision. Tau was an XFC Champion at bantamweight and featherweight, so he will feel comfortable dealing with the biggest possible opponents at flyweight. Tau is another aggressive fighter, but he has shown the tact to fight off the back foot and score with counters against quality opponents. I think Tau has more valuable experience, more cage craft, and more paths to victory.

This fight should be competitive, as both men are used to coming forward, swinging heavily, and imposing their will and their skill set on their opponent. If Tau can stuff takedowns, fight behind a jab, and use his craft and experience to lead the dance, he should be able to get his hand raised.

Prediction: Aaron Tau defeats Namsrai Batbayar via TKO/SDEC
