MMA DFS and Betting Breakdown: UFC Fight Night - Imavov vs. Borralho

The octagon will be touching down in Paris after a rare off week from UFC action. With no numbered events in September, the promotion is giving genuine effort to the traveling road show, and the Parisians should be in for a treat with 14 fights on tap including 8 preliminary bouts. The card features a broad mix of promotional newcomers, established veterans, and contenders looking to step forward in their division. Let’s begin our breakdown with the only women’s bout on the bill, as two strawweights pit their two-fight win streaks on the line against one another.

MMA DFS and Betting Breakdown: UFC Fight Night – Imavov vs. Borralho
Sam Hughes ($9,200) vs. Shauna Bannon ($7,000)
Fight Odds: -385 Hughes vs. +290 Bannon
Weight Class: W115lb. (Women’s Strawweight)
Sam Hughes (5-5 UFC) is looking to earn the first 3-fight win streak of her UFC career after starting 0-3 inside the octagon. Hughes has made significant improvements over time, she tries to fight to her strengths, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to win (including cheating). Hughes has a win over Jaqueline Amorim (4-1 UFC) that is aging like fine wine, and the record books just show the win, not that she had to grab the gloves to prevent the round one submission. Hughes also eked out a questionable split decision over Stephanie Luciano in her last fight, and I expect that win to age well. Overall, she has faced and defeated the better level of competition.
If not for the luck of the Irish, Shauna Bannon (2-1 UFC) could be 0-3 in the UFC right now. Bannon lost a clear decision to Bruna Brasil (3-3 UFC) in her UFC debut, and she has since bounced back with a pair of wins against fighters with losing records in the promotion. Bannon took a nip-tuck split decision against Alice Ardelean (1-2 UFC) in her sophomore appearance. Against India’s Puja Tomar (1-1 UFC), she lost the first round, got dropped in the second, and then managed to submit a really low-level blue belt while rocked on her back. Bannon has a point fighting style, and she has been skating against low-level opponents. I think her upside in this matchup is winning a close, nip-tuck decision.
I expect Sam Hughes to win this fight using her aggression, her wrestling, and her pressure.
Prediction: Sam Hughes defeats Shauna Bannon via Rd. 2/3/DEC
Andreas Gustafsson ($8,300) vs. Rinat Fakhretdinov ($7,900)
